Collective Commitment of the Week
- We will provide an environment that fosters learning through student monitoring, goal-setting, and self-assessment.
In what ways do you have students set their own goals for learning?
How often, and in what ways, do we have students self-assess?
What do you notice about student motivation when THEY are able to set their goals and track personal progress toward those goals?
Important Odds and Ends
*Our awards assembly is next week. Please make your selection for award recipients, contact parents, and send awards my way by Wednesday, November 18th.
*Have a colleague who has gone above and beyond or just consistently shows what it means to be dedicated to our students and our school? Send your nomination and a couple sentences describing why you are making this nomination for the December staff appreciation breakfast by November 20th.
*Our time on Wednesday, November 18th, will be spent working within teams. I will be passing along expectations for collaborative conversations during our early dismissal work time by the end of the day Monday.
*Beginning this Monday, Nov. 16th, a team of International Center consultants will be in our district visiting classrooms for observations lasting 10-20 minutes. The consultants will collect data on the instructional practices and strategies used in classrooms and how instructional strategies are currently impacting learning. The survey findings and the classroom observations will help ICLE provide recommendations for improvements in instructional leadership and classroom strategies.
I do not know which classrooms they may visit, so be aware that you may have visitors in your classroom for a brief observation. These visits will occur between Monday and Thanksgiving break and will only last 10-20 minutes.
