PBS Focus of the Week -

This week our PBS instruction is still focused on I can be a whole body listener. This is our second week to focus on whole body listening. Remember to find time to play "Beat the Teacher" to practice using this skill. By "Beating the Teacher" your class can earn Class Compliments and links to your chain. Taking time to review what it looks like will help students to be more prepared to meet expectations.

Collective Commitment of the Week

Staff will motivate all students to be their best and take responsibility for their own learning.

  • We will provide an environment that fosters learning through student monitoring, goal-setting, and self-assessment.

In what ways do you have students set their own goals for learning?

How often, and in what ways, do we have students self-assess?

What do you notice about student motivation when THEY are able to set their goals and track personal progress toward those goals?

Important Odds and Ends

*Our awards assembly is next week. Please make your selection for award recipients, contact parents, and send awards my way by Wednesday, November 18th.

*Have a colleague who has gone above and beyond or just consistently shows what it means to be dedicated to our students and our school? Send your nomination and a couple sentences describing why you are making this nomination for the December staff appreciation breakfast by November 20th.

*Our time on Wednesday, November 18th, will be spent working within teams. I will be passing along expectations for collaborative conversations during our early dismissal work time by the end of the day Monday.

*Beginning this Monday, Nov. 16th, a team of International Center consultants will be in our district visiting classrooms for observations lasting 10-20 minutes. The consultants will collect data on the instructional practices and strategies used in classrooms and how instructional strategies are currently impacting learning. The survey findings and the classroom observations will help ICLE provide recommendations for improvements in instructional leadership and classroom strategies.

I do not know which classrooms they may visit, so be aware that you may have visitors in your classroom for a brief observation. These visits will occur between Monday and Thanksgiving break and will only last 10-20 minutes.
