Principal's Message

Hello Wildcats!


I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer. We are very excited to welcome everyone back on July 26th, yes we are only two weeks away!


I want to send a special welcome to the class of 2026 and encourage them to RSVP to the freshman orientation on July 20th.


We have had a lot going on this summer, when your students return they will see that we have new floors in the hallways and as you have hopefully already seen, they are currently in the process of painting the exterior of campus. You will soon be getting more information on some changes we are making this year to ensure staff and student safety.


You will be able to start viewing schedules in Infinite Campus on the 11th. Please know that we are still in the process of building some schedules. Your students schedule may change all the way up until the day before school starts. Please read through the reasons to request a schedule change and if you feel that you meet one of those scenarios, please complete the form. All requests through the form will be completed before our counselors will begin answering voicemail.


I want to encourage all of you to begin preparing to return to school. Parents I would suggest that you begin setting up a time and place for your student(s) to complete homework. I would have your student begin to work at that time and location each day starting now. Examples of things that they can do in that space and time, read a book, begin to research things such as scholarships and careers and I would encourage you to have them look at and investigate NetTutor.com. It does not have to be for a long time or anything major, you are just starting to reengage the habits we know make kids successful.


If you have or are a student athlete please look at the athletics section of this newsletter to be sure that you are fully prepared to begin the season.


Most importantly, take this last bit of time to enjoy each other and time together. We need to be sure that our students are mentally and emotionally prepared to come back to school. Please begin having conversations about expectations and goals for this year with your student. You will continue to hear me say again and again, that now not the time for parents to stop being engaged in your students lives.

Student Schedules and Changes

Dear Parents and Students:


We know that you are anxious to get schedule changes. Counselors will begin working on schedule changes the week of July 18th. Please also be aware that classes, teachers, and the order of a student’s schedule may change prior to the start of school. Additionally, due to the high volume of requests please allow three business days for a response.


Please note that there will only be one lunch (5th hour) for all students this year.


STUDENT SCHEDULES AND CHANGES

Alternative classes may be listed on your child’s schedule due to the following reason(s):

  • Student did not meet course prerequisite,

  • Course availability restrictions (course filled up or course cut), and/or

  • Conflict(s) in the student’s schedule.


If you are requesting a schedule change, please answer these questions:

  • Is my schedule missing a period during the school day?

  • Did I attend summer school or take an online course and that course is listed on my schedule?

  • Am I missing a class needed for graduation?


Please note: Unfortunately we can not honor any elective changes or teacher changes.


If you answered YES to any of these questions above and need to request a schedule change, follow the steps below:


  1. Please complete the MHS 2022-2023 Request for Schedule Change form. Please note that when the counselors return they will begin working through registering new students and schedule changes.

  2. If you need to speak to your counselor, please call 480-632-4750 ext. 1134, starting on July 18, 2021 to make an appointment for help with things other than schedule changes.

Big picture

With the start of another school year comes the start of Fall sports at Mesquite. WIth the exception of Spiritline (Pom & Cheer) starting on July 25th, all other Fall sports officially start on Monday, August 8th. In the fall, we offer Football, Girls Volleyball, Girls Badminton, Cross Country, Swim & Dive, and Golf.


BEFORE you can practice and/or tryout, you MUST have the following completed:


*Account opened in Register My Athlete with all information and E-Signatures done.

*A current physical on the 2022-23 paperwork.

*Students must complete both the Brainbook and Opioid Education courses through the AIA one time in their high school career. Those courses can be found at academy.azpreps365.com and the certificate of completion can be uploaded into Register My Athlete.
