Principal's Message

Encouragement For You!

The past two years have been difficult and stressful. Although it is apparent that school has been affected by COVID for quite some time now, I was still astonished when I heard a fact about our students. Students currently in 3rd grade did not experience a normal schedule of school since kindergarten. That timeframe is true for all students - their last full school year was over two years ago.

Over these past two years, our resilience and perseverance certainly has been tested. For those that were at GRE last year, we came together as a school community to make an encouragement video. We coupled that with writing encouragement cards to local first responders and front line workers. If you need a little encouragement right now, take a moment to watch THIS VIDEO from our students, staff, and school community.

Keep going, keep choosing kind, and keep supporting each other.

See you at Leed’s Farm!

Leed's Farm Tonight (Friday)

Don’t forget about Leed’s Farm (8738 Marysville Rd, Ostrander, OH 43061) PTO event tonight. It will be a perfect fall night. If you didn’t register in advance, you can still pay at the door for $15 per person. Many staff members will be there too!

Don’t forget to check Bloomz. We utilize Bloomz as the primary tool for teachers to communicate to families. Teachers send out reminders and important information weekly. In addition, there are often pictures and information about instructional activities that occur in the classroom. This is to help families engage in conversation about school and their learning. Bloomz messages can go to your phone as a notification or to your email. If you are not receiving any Bloomz notifications, please contact your child’s teacher.

Harvest Parties - October 29

Classroom teachers are working with room parents to plan a fun and exciting Harvest Party. Despite not having costumes, the room parents and teachers will plan activities that the students will enjoy. Thank you to the room parents for their planning to make it a great experience for the kids.

Adopt a Family/Welcome Warehouse

Are you experiencing economic hardship such as: job loss, death of a family member, sudden move, divorce, health issues, or an unexpected emergency? Dublin City Schools partners with many organizations that can help! An upcoming opportunity is Welcome Warehouse's Adopt-A-Family/Holiday Assistance program in December. If you are interested in holiday assistance, the deadline to let your school counselor know is OCTOBER 22nd, 2021.

Online Lunch Menu

The cafeteria continues to have occasional challenges with the supply chain of food products, which can lead to menu changes. The online lunch menu is usually the most accurate. If there are any changes that deviate from that in the morning, we communicate that to the students and staff. Click HERE to access the electronic lunch menu.

Family Conferences are Coming - Virtually

For the purpose of health/safety as well as family convenience, conferences will be virtual again this year. The official conference evenings will be October 13th & 21st. Cramming all conferences into a two evening window can often make them feel rushed. Therefore, in addition to those dedicated two evenings, we will have a month and a half long window of time for each family to have a conference with the teacher. Teachers will reach out to families to schedule a conference time to be scheduled between October 4th through November 23rd.

During conferences, your child’s teacher will address three main criteria:

  1. What I know about your child as a learner and a person

  2. Evidence of ways I’ve gotten to know your child (formal and informal data)

  3. Next instructional steps for instruction

If you have specific questions about your child that you want the teacher to prepare for and address within the allotted time, please reach out to let them know.
