Hilary Robinson Visit
This week years 4, 5 and 6 have been incredibly lucky to have had some guided writing time with our local author Hilary Robinson. Within these sessions, Hilary walked the children through her top tips linked to successful story planning and writing. This has been a hugely valuable session for the children, many of whom were excited to put this insider knowledge into practice. A massive thank you to Hilary for her time and to our wonderful Mrs Burrow for organising this for the children!
Musical Story
Thank you to everyone that attended the musical story. We all had a lovely evening enjoying hot chocolate in our pyjamas whilst listening to fabulous music played by Miss Rowley - it really did bring the story alive. We fantastically raised over £100 which means that we can buy 10 chime bar sets, enhancing our music provision and learning!
We are hoping to do another one in the summer term due to the positive feedback so look out for more information soon!
School Lottery
Sign up for the School Lottery before February 22nd and be in with the chance of winning a family Fitbit bundle, including a Fitbit Inspire HR and a children’s Ace 2 fitness tracker.
You can play for as little as £1 per week to be entered into weekly draws to win a guaranteed local prize or a national jackpot of £25,000.
Money from every ticket sold helps to support the school. Please click on the link in the poster to enter.
Sponsored Litter Pick:
Some of the Year One children will be doing a sponsored litter pick in the village on Saturday 28th March as part of the Great British Spring Clean campaign.
As well as Keeping Britain Tidy, the money raised will go towards buying new Chromebooks for the school. If you would like to sponsor the little litter-pickers, please donate at www.gofundme.com/f/year1GreatSpringClean2020 Thank you!

PTA News:
Nominations for new Chair:
We will shortly be holding an extraordinary election to try to fill the position of PTA Chair, which remains vacant after receiving no volunteers at the AGM in September.
We are also looking for more regular active members to continue providing all the events that the children and the wider community expect and enjoy.
If we are unable to secure a Chair and further members, we will need to operate on a much reduced basis, which will sadly reduce the benefits we can deliver to the children.
If you are interested in nominating yourself for the position of Chair, a form will be sent home with all children to be filled in and returned by 7th February.
If you would like more information about the role, please contact us at southmilfordpta@outlook.com
An extraordinary AGM to elect a new Chair will be held in due course.
