WBMS Friday Notes
April 22, 2022
Reflections from Ms. Williams
WBMS Parents and Guardians –
Tonight is the 8th grade dance, and we are excited about the fun evening ahead. Thank you to our PTA who have transformed our cafeteria into a dance hall! We look forward to seeing our 8th graders this evening!
Next week we will move into our end of the year testing season with three days of English Language Arts testing. Please take a look at the testing calendar in Friday Notes. As you can see, English and Math tests are spread out over several days to decrease the length of testing time on each day. At WBMS we will test each day from 8:55 to 11:10 in our small Compass classes. If your child arrives by car, PLEASE plan to arrive on time so testing can begin on time. If at all possible, please move any appointments if they fall during a testing day for your student. No homework or assessments will be assigned on days preceding Milestone test days.
Please reassure your students that they have been well prepared throughout the year and Milestones are only a snap shot of the knowledge and growth they have attained. Sometimes students become anxious before standardized testing and believe these tests have the power to make or break their entire futures. All we want is for our students to show their knowledge and shine as brightly as we know they can. Support their success by ensuring solid sleep, protein-filled breakfasts, proper hydration, and positive mental focus, which have all been proven to assist during testing. We are already proud of the academic growth we have witnessed this year!
Enjoy your weekend!

Georgia Milestone Testing
Georgia Milestones testing begins Monday, April 25. The test measures knowledge and skills in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies and provides critical information about achievement and readiness for next level of learning. With the absence of significant testing data from the last two years, this year’s scores will be used to establish a new baseline for schools and the district. Participation is crucial. The district expects all students in grades 3-8 and those in a high school end-of-year (EOC) course to participate. Thank you for partnering with the district to ensure a high rate of student participation.
