Panther Pause
22 years of Pride at Colleyville Heritage High School
11.30.18
Panthers,
Let me start by saying that I hope everyone had a restful holiday. I know I came back with a renewed energy level and excitement about this important time of year for our students and staff. This week we hosted an event that every year fills me with PRIDE as our CHHS PALS lead our middle school groups in a conference. During this conference, our students were able to make a greater impact in our overall GCISD community. They taught about the importance of building friendships, achieving goals, resisting peer pressure, and many other aspects in helping them be better leaders at their current campus. They also prepare them on how to be better leaders when they enter high school. We spend so much time talking about leadership and preparing students for their own future that taking time to prepare others for their future is a great way for our students to give back to our community. In that same lens of making our community a better place, there is an opportunity for YOU to make a difference. On December 13th we will be hosting Santa's Helpers Toy Drive in conjunction with WFAA. Our goal is to collect 2500 toys on this night to give back to families in our community. I would encourage you to take time and bring a new wrapped toy to CHHS on Thursday, December 13th from 5-8:30pm. This is also the night of our winter choir concert, so you can support our choir in addition to giving back. Have a great weekend and GO PANTHERS!

Student Voice
Define what PRIDE means to you at CHHS.
At CHHS, having PRIDE means constantly making an effort to exemplify not only being a great student, but being a great person. This mainly consists of striving to be the very best you can be. Beyond making good grades and working the hardest in sports and other activities, having PRIDE means going above and beyond to be kind and encouraging and setting a positive example for others. Having PRIDE means cultivating the type of environment that the students and teachers at CHHS can be proud of.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT 2019: ASHTON SHILES
Ashton Shiles is our featured 2019 Senior Spotlight Student this week. Aston is on the CHHS Varsity Girls Soccer Team. She is involved in Student Council, Class Council, Redefining Beautiful, Club Soccer and volunteers every week at church. She plans to attend college and major in Elementary Education. Her favorite quote is by Charles R. Swindoll, "Life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% of how you react to it." She thinks "Project Graduation is a fun and safe celebration to enjoy all our school days and give one last big send off together as a class before we all start our next journey.” We hope all our seniors will join Ashton at the 2019 Project Graduation Celebration.

PSAT and EOC
In October of 2018, the PSAT/NMSQT was administered to all Grapevine-Colleyville ISD's ninth, tenth, and eleventh grade students. Those results are expected to be available to students starting on December 10th using their personal College Board accounts at www.collegeboard.org. If your student does not have a college board account, please visit Getting Your PSAT/NMSQT Scores for more information on how to set up a College Board account and access scores. The College Board also provides videos to help students with the sections of the Student Score Report, as well as,Understanding their Scores.
Also, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) has determined that ninth graders earning a score of 450 or higher on the mathematics section of the PSAT may substitute that result for the Algebra I STAAR End of Course (EOC) exam.
Additionally, ninth graders earning a score of 410 or higher on the evidence-based reading and writing section of the PSAT may substitute that result for the English I STAAR End of Course (EOC) exam.
If your student qualifies for either of the PSAT graduation requirement substitutions and you would still like for your child to participate in the corresponding EOC exam, please contact your campus testing coordinator as soon as possible so that EOC materials can be ordered for your student.
