Our journey and wonder in learning labs this week.
Arrivederci, April and Buongiorno May!
Can you believe it is May? This year has passed by in a swirl of amazing projects, enlightening enrichments, wonderful memories, and tremendous growth! As the school year begins to wind down we continue to wind up with one of our favorite Reggio projects--Sea Life! This week students have been introduced to a few of the learning labs that we will experience as well as beginning to research the artist Wyland! We have so many inspiring provocations this month and everyone is eager to dive right in!
Students have expressed that they would like to have another pajama day! So May 21st will be our first ever end of the year pajama luau! We are looking forward to possibly beginning a new tradition! ALOHA!!!!
What to look forward to:
-Creating Wyland inspired sea life art which sends a message of conservation, protection or education of the ocean and its creatures!
-Monet in the Art Studio
-Pineapple Day
-Learning to Hula Dance
-Cinco De Mayo inspired nachos
-Pajama Luau Day!!!!!!!!
The month of May also brings an extremely busy month for the teaching team as we wrap up end of the year assessments, state-mandated requirements for students and the student's portfolios! May's teacher professional day is very much needed in order to prepare!
Ciao!

Summer Library Program!!!! A Universe of Stories: Space Exploration
A Universe of Stories: Space Exploration!
The program runs every summer within the local library systems with a different theme each year between July and August. The focus will be on exploring distant galaxies, living on the moon and discovering our solar system. There will be learning stations for the children to examine meteorites, create planetary art and discover new books to read about space. For the adults, a very special hands-on project building a piece that will ultimately become a display for the library! It's going to be a fantastic time and there will even be some NASA swag to take home :)
This program is sign up only, so check with your local libraries. Below is a list of the libraries that will be participating so far. Though the dates and times have been discussed, they are still being set and put into the library's online system. It is much easier to go to your local library to sign up.

Teacher Appreciation Week! May 6th-10th
We are grateful to have the experience to teach your beautiful children but it is always nice to feel appreciated.
Teachers are real-life superheroes. They educate, innovate, encourage and support. Every day they touch the lives of millions of children and their work and the impact extends far beyond the boundaries of the program and learning labs.
Take the time to celebrate these real-life superheroes during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 6th-10th, 2018.
Teacher Appreciation Committee
Every year our lovely parents form a teacher appreciation committee. If you would like to join and participate in this fun week sign up to help, organize and plan this very special week of celebrating our passionate teaching team. Sign up in the rock room in the Parent Volunteer Book.
We have 3 amazing real-life superhero teachers. We do our best to eat healthy and organic. We enjoy places such as Café Evergreen, Black Gold Coffee Roasters, and we enjoy shopping at local establishments. Miss Terra and Miss Michelle's teacher collages in the welcome hallway may offer some great inspiration! We also love donations for the learning labs. We attached our wish list below!
