FBA/BIP Level 1 (hybrid)
Does your behavior support team need help developing Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavioral Intervention Plans (FBA/BIP)? This hybrid workshop is ideal for educators at a beginner or intermediate level of experience. DAY 1: Using the MiPlace platform, participants will complete REQUIRED online modules with assessments. DAY 2 at Oakland Schools: To learn the FBA/BIP process, participants will work through a case as a team. Please bring a case with detailed data and supporting documents. Because of the collaborative, problem-solving nature of this approach, teams are strongly encouraged to attend. Any individual participants will be assigned to a team.

New to ASD Kickoff for Special Education Teachers

This after school kickoff is intended for special education teachers who are new to the disability of ASD (within the past three years). In two hours you will receive best practice resources, information on how to get support throughout the school year, and the opportunity to network with colleagues. A listserv will be created for attendees to ask questions, share challenges, and receive quarterly newsletters containing tips for teaching and relevant professional development offerings. A snack will be provided.

ASD and the General Education Classroom: Strategies that Work for ALL students
Do you educate a student with ASD in a general education classroom ? Do you wonder what strategies other teachers successfully use to meet the needs of students with ASD? If so, this workshop is for YOU! And as a bonus, the tips, tools and strategies can be implemented to improve the learning of ALL students! Participants will learn how to improve student initiation, engagement, time-on-task and work completion by implementing simple evidence based practices. Hands-on activities, small and large group discussion, as well as ideas you can use in your classroom tomorrow.

Taking you beyond what was presented in level one, this course looks to increase your ability to collect data and construct meaningful hypotheses that drive planning. Group time will be allowed for discussion of common barriers.
