Weather and Outside

With the winter weather, please ensure students are coming to school with coats, hats, gloves, etc so they can be warm. Doors will continue to open at 8:30am, regardless of temperatures so plan accordingly. Thank you for all you do for our Silver Lakers!!

January Top Tigers

Each month two students will be recognized at a Board Meeting for being Top Tigers. Top Tigers are exemplary in their character traits and their effort. What an honor it is to be recognized by your teachers at a Board Meeting. This month, students were recognized by our 3rd Grade Team. Proud of these Silver Lakers for all of their Black Tiger Pride!!

February Kindness Challenge

This calendar was shared in Dojo and on the school website. Each day there is a new challenge for the students to spread kindness. We have the Silver Lake Elementary Kindness Tree (pictured above) that we will be looking to see in full bloom at the end of the month. It will be filled by hearts with students' names for when they complete a daily challenge. Tune in next month to see the end result :)

Positive Office Referrals from last month

Cuyahoga Falls City Schools utilizes PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) as a way to focus on the positive behaviors and how to change behaviors by using positive reinforcement. This goes hand-in-hand with our code of conduct that provides discipline procedures for negative behaviors. In wanting to help reinforce the positive behaviors students exhibit, Silver Lake Elementary is using a Positive Student Referral System where staff members can refer a student to the principal but for positive reasons.

Congratulations to these Silver Lakers on their Positive Referral to my office!

Playground Use Outside of School Hours

Before School, we ask that no students be on the playground sets as there is not any supervision outside until the bell rings at 8:30am to allow students into the building.

After school, once students have joined their parents/guardians and are in their care and under their supervision, students may be on the playground sets. Again, this is an issue with supervision and we do not want anything to happen to our little Black Tigers.

Parents with students picking up younger siblings (HS or MS students): please have conversations regarding how they should not be playing on the equipment when our day is still in session. I understand that older students get out earlier but that becomes a disruption to the end of the day here. I appreciate all of you help with this matter.

3rd Graders and the Cuyahoga Falls Lions Club

On January 19th, our 3rd grades had a presentation from 2 members of the Cuyahoga Falls Lions Club. They spoke about their organization as well as delivered some awesome writing books to our students! Thank you so much to a wonderful organization!!!

Student Council and the Humane Society

During the month of January, our 4th and 5th graders worked with Mr. Karson and Pigpen from the Summit County Humane Society through their program "No More Bullying". On the last day, our Student Council presented Mr. Karson and Pigpen with tie blankets they made with money they earned during their Pencil Gram Sale before break. They wanted to take the money and turn it back into a service.

Lost and Found

Is your child missing a coat? A sweatshirt? Multiple items? They might be here in our lost and found. If there is something missing please have your child look here. If you know of something that is missing please call the school and describe it so we can see if it is here.

Silver Lake Staff Spotlight

Meet our Librarian

Get to know Mrs. Tina Lindy

Hi! This is my 20th year in education and my 17th year as the Elementary Librarian for Cuyahoga Falls City Schools. I enjoy working with all of the students in grades K-5 across the district! This is actually my 30th year in the district, as my first career was a CF student from Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Outside of school, I enjoy traveling with my family and hanging out with my cats and dogs. This year we traveled up the west coast from San Diego to Seattle. My daughter started college this year at Findlay University and both of my sons attend Cuyahoga Falls schools.

Meet our CTIS (Classroom Technology Integration Specialist)

Get to know Mr. Ron Winkler

This is my 27th year in the Cuyahoga Falls City School District. During these years, I have taught computer technology successfully in grades K-8. I have also spent time as a Student Services Coordinator (assistant to the principal), interim assistant principal, and middle school athletic manager.

When not in the classroom, I enjoy coaching. I coached boys/girls basketball for twelve years, spent eight years as a high school baseball coach, and spent ten years as a manager/coach for travel and recreational baseball/softball teams.

Little known facts about Mr. Winkler are that he likes working on anything with an engine, loves animals, built his own computer desk (and computer), was a reserve police officer for 5 years, has recently taught himself how to use a CNC plasma cutting machine, and enjoys welding.
