Happy Halloween Week!
A full moon and Halloween in the same week, oh my! Hoping the week will be full of treats and not tricks as we work our way closer to the weekend!
Reminders for the week:
- Red Ribbon Week! Promote the canned goods drive, create Red Ribbon pledges and/or banners for the hallway, and participate in our themed clothing each day to promote drug and violence-free life!
- Book Fair is all week- there are some fabulous deals and teacher discounts!
- Boo Buddies all week if you signed up for that bit of fun!
- Thursday- come make a wreath afterschool in the art room- just bring your supplies to make your wreath (see email from Karen last week if you are interested)
- Fat Friday is this Friday! (sign-up sheet on Marie's door if it's your turn)
- Our Fall Parent Lunch Day will be this Friday- all grade levels will eat in classrooms except the students whose parents come to lunch that day. We have to have enough room for parents and students to eat together, so thank you for your assistance with this! :) Pre-K students can eat in the cafeteria as usual.
- Vocabulary Parade on Friday- what's your word?
Are you Level 1 Yet?
For our district and state accountability expectations in regard to technology, all professional staff must be Level 1 certified. We are only at about 25% for our professional staff currently. This is NOT where we want to be! Today's staff meeting will have several components, but we will end with how to get Level 1 certified for Alief technology competencies, and talk about deadlines to get this completed. It's really simple!
Planning Protocols with your Teams
Planning protocols are being implemented across the district to increase the quality of planning and preparation for instruction. Here at Chancellor we have some fabulous teams who have been trying planning protocols since last year! If your team is just getting started on planning protocols, keep in mind the purpose is to increase our quality of instruction, but decrease the length of planning you have to do to cover all areas of planning, by dividing the work amongst the team.
We want to work smarter, not harder, and planning protocols are designed to reduce teacher planning workload, as well as allow for delving deeper into our content areas. We want to continue to develop rigor and stronger instruction for our students, as the bar is constantly moving each year for where are students need to be. What are your thoughts? Email me with your experiences so far, your concerns, your praises, or anything at all that you are thinking about this development in our planning strategies.
50th day of School is next Tuesday!
Next Tuesday is Election Day, so everyone will have to eat in classrooms, as we do have voting in the cafeteria all day on Tuesday. Talk to your students about the elections coming up, and don't forget to vote!
It is also the 50th day of School! If you would like to dress up for the 50th day, feel free to pull out your poodle skirts, letterman or leather jackets and cuffed jeans, saddle shoes, penny loafers, or mary-janes, and come have a rockin' good time!
