Chromebook Insurance Updates

Starting this school year, families of students in grades 3-12 will no longer register for Chromebook insurance. Instead, Parkway is moving to a per-incident fine structure for Chromebook damage that is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty (e.g. damaged screens, damaged keyboards, missing/damaged chargers, etc.).

When a Chromebook is turned in for repair, the device will be evaluated and repaired by a Parkway technician. A fine will be assessed if a part is required to complete the repair AND the repair is not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. The amount of the fine will vary depending on the total cost of the parts needed to repair the Chromebook. Repairs that require parts valued under $200 are considered minor and a $25 fine will be assessed. Repairs that require parts valued over $200 are considered major and a $50 fine will be assessed. The fine structure is designed to supplement the overall cost of the repair to Parkway.

Families will be able to view and pay Chromebook repair fines through Rycor (Instructions for accessing), Parkway’s fine recording and processing system. This change allows families to pay for Chromebook repairs in the same manner in which they currently pay for other items such as library fines and event tickets, and also removes the need to annually register for Chromebook insurance.

Please contact the Technology Help Desk ( if you have any questions.

Counselor's Corner

The school day can be challenging, especially when attending the Virtual Campus. As soon as our alarm goes off in the morning, our choices will determine if we are able to meet our goals for the day. In-person school provides structure that can be missing when we are attending virtually, so we need to do our best to recreate that structure at home. To set yourself up for success you can start by sticking to the following steps:

  1. Treat your day like you would if you were going to in-person school.

  2. Start the day off the same way you normally would. Get cleaned up and dressed up for the school day. Have a good breakfast. Be in your designated study spot ready to start the day on time.

  3. Have a designated study spot, free from distractions. This is not in your bed under the covers. A clean desk in a quiet place would be ideal.

  4. Avoid eating during class time so you can focus on your learning.

Remember, your school counselor, Mr. Bourke is only a call or email away. Please let me know what I can do to help you this year!

Student Health: Immunization Requirements

All Parkway students must meet the minimum immunization requirements to enroll in Virtual Campus or home school. Please send your child's updated Immunization Summary to your home school's nurse. More information can be found on Parkway's website.

Attendance Protocols

To report an absence, notify us of a late arrival, or early release, please call the attendance line at 314-415-9976. Message are checked daily.

Thank you for your help in ensuring our student attendance records are accurate.

Parent University in Schoology

Are you interested in learning more about the online platforms that Parkway is using with students during distance and virtual learning?

Parent University is a course created in Schoology, our district Learning Management System, that has information about Schoology, Google for Education, videoconferencing, and digital citizenship. Within the course you will find information that will help you understand the tools students use as well as opportunities for you to experience the tools from the student perspective. The goal of the course is to support you in feeling confident that you can help your child(ren) with online learning in Parkway. While you are welcome to explore the materials in any order, it would be beneficial to work through the Schoology folder first to learn how to interact with tools you will encounter in other folders. Follow these directions to enroll in the Parkway Parent University Schoology Course! Be sure to scroll down to page 2.
