Water Guns are not permitted in the school building for any reason!!!

Chromebook Turn-in

The following students will need to turn in their school issued chromebook, chromebook charger, and chromebook case following their last final:

  • Seniors/Graduates

  • Students who will be attending the Knox County Career Center during the 22-23 school year

  • Students who will be moving to another school district


All other students are allowed to keep their chromebooks for the summer. If you prefer to have your student turn in their chromebook for the summer, they will need to take it to the library following their last final of the year.

Band Concert

The High School Band Concert will take place on Tuesday, May 17 at 7:00pm in the high school theater.

Senior Awards Night

  • Senior Awards Night- 6:30pm Thursday, May 19 @ Energy Fieldhouse
  • Students who need to attend should have received an e-mail. Families should also have received an invitation.

Final Exam Schedule

MVHS will be running a final exam schedule at the end of the year. Permission slip to leave can be found in the high school office.

John Phillip Sousa Award recipient

Senior trumpet player Ella Ackert received the John Philip Sousa award on Monday, May 9th at a special luncheon sponsored by the Mount Vernon Kiwanis. The John Philip Sousa Award is given to an outstanding band student who demonstrates superior musicianship, dependability, loyalty, and cooperation. Ella has earned the most varsity points in their class and embodies the definition of the John Philip Sousa award. Ella was in attendance with their parents, Brian and Laura Ackert; grandparent, Linda Douglas; private trumpet instructor, Dave Eaton; and band director, Megan Aubihl.

Summer School

The summer school handbook is now posted on the MVHS website. For clarification, in-person summer school will only be used for credit recovery classes. This would be for students who have previously failed a class.

Senior Tag/Pranks/Skip Day

Notice: Mount Vernon High School does not promote or support any of the following activities:


  • Senior Tag
  • Any Senior Prank
  • Senior Skip Day

If these activities take place on MVHS property, or any other MVCSD property, it could result in negative consequences.

2nd Semester F's

We will be following what is stated in the handbook in regards to 2nd semester F's:


*Failing grades may also be earned if a student does not pass at least one of the nine-week grading periods in the second semester of a year-long course. A student enrolled in a semester course must pass at least one of the nine-week grading periods in addition to accumulating enough points for a passing average.
