Message from Dr. Ramirez
I want to start my message this week by extending a heartfelt thank you to our students. They are working hard, and they are following our health, safety, and behavior expectations. I am very proud of our Red Wolves.
Additionally, I would like to extend our thanks to our family and community members for their continued support, encouragement, and patience as we continue to navigate through the challenges of educating during a pandemic.
As a reminder, October 25th and 26th are Teacher Workdays; this will be a nice break for our students!
Please take a look at your student's grades in PowerSchool. If you need help on how to do this, email josh.miller@orange.k12.nc.us; he'll assist you. There are only 10 days of instruction before the 1st quarter ends. If you or your student needs support in a class, please reach out to the teacher.
Homecoming is nearly here! See the attached flyers for more information as well as this link for more information. Parent volunteers are needed for Friday's (10/30) outdoor evening event (which includes a DJ and outdoor dancing). Email lisa.volaric@orange.k12.nc.us for details.
This year we will introduce our royal court as Regents! Each class will vote on grade-level Regents (2 per grade level). A Homecoming Regent is a student who exhibits strong leadership qualities and is a role model both inside and outside of the classroom. The Regent Court will be introduced on our first day of Spirit Week and introduced at our 10/21 pep rally and football game. (Yes, pep rallies are back!).
The Regent Court will also be honored at our Fall Formal Dance in November at a date to be announced. Grade levels will also have daily Battle of the Classes based on each day's competition.
May your week be AWESOME!
Sincerely,
Dr. Ramirez

HS Lunch Menu - See the menu here. As you are aware, disruptions to supply chains are delaying shipments, and human capital shortages are limiting product availability everywhere. OCS Child Nutrition (CN) is currently experiencing shortages with food, supplies, and disposable utensils. As a result of the product shortages, last-minute changes had to be made to the October and November menus.
A reminder for Car Driving Students: Tardies/absences due to Car trouble will not be an acceptable reason for being tardy to school. Official appointment notes are required for all appointments to be excused.
Note on Bathroom Policy: We are continuing our current bathroom policy. Exceptions can be made for emergencies, only. In the case of an emergency, another student must accompany the first, and both students must sign in and out of class. Dr. Ramirez will reevaluate this policy at the end of this week.
Note on Flex Time: Students will be trained on how to use the new flextime software called Edificiency as early as this week. We expect to have everyone trained include teachers before we launch Flextime as designed on October 27, the start of our 2nd quarter.
9th and 10th Grades Student and Parents: The North Carolina School of Science and Math will have a virtual information session on October 13, 2021, at 6:00 pm. PTSO Update
Hello Cedar Ridge Families:
At our most recent PTSO meeting we were so pleased to be able to approve funding for over $1,500 worth of teacher Mini Grant requests! A special thank you to all of those who donated to this essential program.
Normally we offer Mini Grants in the fall and the spring. PTSO has realized however, that many teachers need classroom supplies that don't technically fall under the Mini Grant umbrella. For this reason, we have decided to offer Teacher Wish Lists in the spring in lieu of Mini Grants. Mini Grants will resume in the fall.
Under the Wish Lists, PTSO will gather specific supply requests from teachers. Parents will then have the option to sign up to purchase any items as a way to offer support. Due to budget restrictions, teachers often have to self-pay for some of their classroom supplies, and this will be a way that we can help alleviate that burden.
As always, please consider a donation to PTSO: http://crhsptso.weebly.com/
Also, a reminder for those who order from Amazon...you can link our school via Amazon Smile: smile.amazon.com and the PTSO will receive a small donation based on what you spend. It's a super easy way to support our organization.
Have a great week!
Lauren Drake
President, PTSO
