VES Bluebird Update
May/June 2019
A Note to Our Families
Monday, June 24th, our last day of school, will be an early dismissal day. All the best to our fourth graders moving up to LMS. We look forward to welcoming our incoming third and fourth grade students on the first day of school, September 5th.
Thank you, VES families for your involvement and support. Have a safe, relaxing and happy summer!
Goodbye from Mrs. Maccarone
While I am eager and excited to begin my new role, I am sad to leave VES, which is a truly amazing place. This caring community of students, staff, and families, has become like my family. I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside some of the most talented and thoughtful professionals in the field of education, and with Montgomery students and families. You all are the fabric that makes VES such a special school community.
I thank you for your trust and respect, and know that I am prepared for my new role because of all that I have learned from you.
I know Ms. Lacy will conduct a thorough search process and will find a fantastic candidate who will seamlessly transition into this role, as her assistant. I plan to help ensure a smooth transition, in any way I can.
I know the future is bright for this VES community and look forward to hearing all about it.
With Appreciation to my VES Family,
Jaime Maccarone
The VES Placement Process
As the end of the year approaches, plans for classroom placements are being made. Ms. Lacy and Mrs. Maccarone work closely with teachers, supervisors, and guidance counselors to place current 3rd and 4th graders. OHES administrators, Mrs. Scotti and Mr. VanHise, place current 2nd graders into 3rd grade with our assistance. Ms. Lacy and Mrs. Maccarone will place all 4th graders into 5th grade with assistance from Lower Middle School administrators, Mr. Richards and Mrs. Kichura.
All students will be placed in heterogeneous classes with the best possible teacher match, and a positive group of classmates. Any specific academic needs will be taken into consideration first. We cannot honor requests for specific teachers, and requests for specific students can present a challenge. However, we will consider input regarding special circumstances or information the school does not already have. Pertinent information shared in previous years must be resubmitted. Letters or emails must be in writing and received by June 14th.
Please trust us to make the best placement possible for all children. It is important to us that students have successful academic and developmentally appropriate experiences in school with talented and caring teachers. Final placement information will be available in August.

VES Fun Day
Spring is here and we are getting close to wrapping up another successful year of Health and Physical Education at VES. That means it is almost time for our annual VES Fun Day! The VES Physical Education Team looks forward to organizing a day of fun and physical activity with the help of the PTA and our many parent volunteers. This year, it will be held on June 19th, with a rain date of June 20th.
They cannot do it without you!
Parent volunteers can help by supervising and assisting with running stations. Participating in the activities and having some fun is encouraged and will be greatly appreciated! Please click here to take a look at the stations and times for an activity that you would be willing to help run. Thank you for all of your support!
From the Health Office
-Patricia Cizin - Phone (609) 466-7606 (ext. 2600) Fax (609) 466-7190
If your child currently has medication in stock in the health office, please plan to stop by anytime on June 21st to pick it up. New Jersey state law prohibits public schools from storing medications in the health office over the summer. This includes Epi-Pens, inhalers, insulin, eye drops, and prescription and non-prescription medications, such as Tylenol, Advil or Benadryl. All medications not picked up by a parent by 1:30 p.m. on June 24, 2019 will be discarded in compliance with state regulations. Students are not allowed to carry any medication home in their backpacks as per Montgomery Township School District policy. Exceptions cannot be made to this policy.
If your student has a Life Threatening Allergy or Asthma please have the appropriate medical forms completed by your child’s physician for the 2019-2020 school year and bring them to the Health Office (along with any medication) before the first day of school. We cannot use this year’s completed forms.
Health Forms for the 2019-2020 school year will be sent to parents electronically. Please log onto your Parent Resources account to ensure the email address on file reflects a current working email address.
Fun Events are Planned!
Make sure your child is prepared for the end of the year field trips and Fun Day. Remember to apply sunscreen in the morning, pack water for the day, and dress for the weather!
