Think Win-Win
As a teacher, I was part of a team that was more about individual performance than our team's performance. I remember having an intense meeting where we discussed our short-comings as a team. We decided that regardless of our individual performances, our team would be judged on our collective performance. Sadly, it took this type of meeting before we realized that we were much stronger as a Win-Win team.
Over the last several years we have worked on Professional Learning Communities. PLC's by nature require a Win-Win mentality. The toughest part of being a part of a PLC is realizing and owning your individual shortcomings. This combined with allowing your teammates to compliment you is pivotal to PLC's. Only then can you and your team work together and Think Win-Win.
One of my favorite quotes is by Mother Theresa. I can do what you can't do, you can do what I can't do; Together we can do great things.
This quote embodies Habit 4. This week as your work with your team, keep Habit 4 front and center. There is not telling what you will accomplish together.
