Tyngsborough Elementary School
May 6, 2020 Update
Dr. Flanagan recently shared a reflection from a colleague of what things are like as a parent and Superintendent during the Covid-19 crisis. This letter offers a great perspective and understanding that we are all dealing with many things during this difficult time. Click here to read it.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact school administrators or counselors if you need any assistance.
Staff Appreciation Week
At TES, we always look forward to Teacher Appreciation Week! Typically we'd be preparing luncheons, dessert bars, coffee carts, and traveling the hallways with our Woot Woot Cart! With the school closure, our teachers are working harder than ever learning new platforms, contacting students and families daily while trying to balance their own home lives. They are exhausted and stressed, but mostly they are worried about the success, healthy, safety, and well being of their students. Our teachers deserve a boost to their morale right now so we're asking for your help.
A huge thank you to our amazing PTO for always supporting us! ️

Message from Dr. Branco, Assistant Superintendent
In my last update, I shared that Massachusetts Commissioner of Education Jeff Riley recently released the DESE’s updated remote learning guidance entitled Strengthening Our Remote Learning Experience: Guidance for Massachusetts districts and schools. As a result, students can expect that upcoming lessons and assignments will be aligned with the prerequisite standards outlined in the Commissioner’s guidance and will most likely be based on material that they have not previously been introduced to. As the Commissioner recommends, our focus will be on teaching the content standards most critical for student success in the next grade level and to help move all students towards successful engagement in remote learning. Students are expected to attend and participate in online sessions, as well as complete assignments to the fullest extent possible so that they are best prepared for the expectations of the upcoming school year. We understand that each of our families is impacted differently by this pandemic and closure. If your child is having difficulty accessing information/materials, participating, or completing assignments please reach out to their teachers, counselors, or administrators.
Message from the Health Office
Dear TES families,
We hope this note finds you and your family well during this difficult time in our country. We truly miss all the students and look forward to seeing everyone soon. We are available via email and fax during the extended school closure for school health related concerns. We are encouraging physical exam and immunization documentation to be sent to us via email or fax to keep your child’s school health records up to date. Vision and Hearing screenings were performed, if your child was referred for further evaluation please send us the documentation the physician provided you with. Unfortunately, Postural Screenings were not performed this year due to Governor Baker's order of school closure. During your child’s next Physical Exam, please alert the Pediatrician that your child did not have a Postural Screening during the 2019-2020 school year. If you have questions please feel free to contact the health office via email: sarah.isenberger@tyngsboroughps.org or jennifer.spanos@tyngsboroughps.org.
Sincerely,
Sarah Isenberger RN & Jen Spanos RN Fax (844) 417-3492
Grade 5 Moving On Celebration
Although we would love nothing more than to hold our traditional 5th Grade Moving On Ceremony, we simply can't. Please know that we will do our very best to recognize this incredible group of students with a celebration on Thursday, June 11th at 10:00 a.m. Details regarding the celebration will be forthcoming, but please save the date.
Happy Birthday to our TES Friends!
Supporting our Children during School Closure
With Massachusetts schools officially closed for the remainder of the school year due to #COVID19, kids may be struggling and dealing with feelings of loss or grief.
