Artist Statement:
I created this piece because I was just very interested in it. I first off knew I wanted to do a face...then just made a girl into it. Its pretty much my face on my very own mug. I didn't have many problems at first. But though you may not be able to see it in the picture... the hair goes all the way around the mug to add texture and I wasn't sure how to do that part at first. Another problem I had was getting the handle the right shape. I wanted it to represent an ear.
If I could change anything in my project it would be the glazed coloring and the features of the face. I do not like how I did the eyes in the end and this project did not turn out how I wouldve liked it too.
Artist Statement:
I created this project because of the circumstances of doing a whale as our whistle. The whale is my favorite animal so I decided to do that. I did not want to do more of a realistic whale so I put my own spin on it and made it a little more girly. I didn't have many problems on this piece either. At first I had no clue on how to get my actual white to blend into the whale. (its hiding behind the tail). I also had a problem with the shape of the whale tail. I never got it to be the perfect shape and size I wanted. If I could change anything in my project it would be the colors I painted it. I would've also added some more detail to the whales body and not have made it so smooth.

Art Criticism:
In this piece I see a center focus that the entire piece revolves around. The outside and edges of the piece all focus around the center. I see some sort of dish or vase. Elements and Principles really are involved in this piece. I see movement and rhythm around the outside that focus towards the middle of this piece. The texture also looks very very smooth and soft. The object had a round touch to it with the edges as well. I think is sculpture is about a center theme. Such as a key point in the middle with all the components surrounding it. Yes, this piece is very successful. It looks very neat and professional and looks like someone who has had lots of experience would create.

In this piece I see 3 men, two young and one older. I also see a snake wrapping around and in between this men. I see a very strong and emotional struggle as well. I can see pain and very strong emotion in these mens faces. What really dominates this work is space, I can see the 3 dimensional in the objects which give me the ability to see a more realistic side to the piece. I also see unity, because the man in the center is so large and looks very similar he is emphasized on but as well goes along with the rest of the piece. I think this piece is about a very long struggle. I see very strong emotions that may mean that this was a very hard time for these 3 men. Yes, this work is very successful. I see a lot of effort that went into this piece. Its also very very clean and neat. It looks very professional and well done. Its also very realistic and has the sculpture looking very real.
