  • Phase 3 Update
  • Enrichment Showcase
  • Kindergarten / New Student Registration

Dear EUSD Families,

Although the case rates are still alarming, we are certainly starting to see some light as the stay at home orders have been lifted, county numbers have decreased and the number of vaccinations given has increased. This is all good news as we move toward the next phase of reopening. We know that cannot come soon enough! Recently, we have received questions about how this information impacts our plans as some surrounding districts have moved forward with their next phases.

Each district has created their reopening plans and phases based on their specific context related to size, space, resources, safety mitigation strategies and staff needs. We recognize some families want us to open sooner than the planned Phase 3 opening and some families are concerned with our moving beyond hybrid. At this time, our plans continue to be to move into our 5 day per week program when the county moves to the red tier.

EUSD has hired 15 new teachers as part of our Phase 3 plans! We have added classroom teachers to reduce class sizes at some sites, we have added Cloud Campus teachers to support the movement to Cloud Campus by students and finally we have added Site Support Teachers to add additional help to our combo classes.

We know it has been challenging for families to not be on campus to share in your children’s learning and at school experience. We are excited to share a video highlighting some of the incredible enrichment opportunities that are still happening for our students. It is wonderful to see the normalcy of the school experience with art, PE, yoga and science even when so much of school is not so normal right now. We know these incredible programs could not exist without the financial support of families through the Encinitas Education Foundation and our Parent Teacher Associations. Please view the Enrichment Showcase section below to find out more.

Our Kindergarten and New Student registration for the 2021-2022 school year is set to begin on Monday, February 1, 2021. Students entering Kindergarten for the 2021-22 school year must be 5 years old by September 1, 2021. This year, we transitioned to a new Student Information System called PowerSchool SIS. We have worked diligently to ensure that the new registration platform is accessible and user friendly. The registration website is available at this link. Please note that the link to begin the registration process on the website will be accessible beginning on Monday, February 1.

Warmly,

Andrée Grey, Ed.D.

Enrichment Showcase

Since 2016, EUSD has been hosting an annual Enrichment Showcase Week. In years past, this has been an event where we invited parents on campus to get a taste of all the wonderful enrichment opportunities our students are exposed to on a weekly basis. As with everything this school year, we have had to reimagine how we would share this experience with families and decided to bring enrichment to you! While we miss having visitors on campus, we sure hope you enjoy this glimpse into a portion of your student’s school day!
