It’s Time to Refer 3rd and 4th Grade Students for the 2021-2022 Highly Capable Student Program!
Do you have a student who…
- learns easily and quickly?
- thinks up unusual ways to solve hard problems?
- has a clever sense of humor?
- dislikes doing the same thing over and over?
- thinks logically and wants things to make sense?
- is open to new ideas?
- is persistent and wants to keep trying with difficult tasks?
If you answered “yes” to any of the above questions, please refer your student to test for the Highly Capable Student Program. Please complete a Project Excel Program Referral packet online (see link below) by 4:00pm, April 23. Testing materials are ordered the next day and late registrations may not be able to be accommodated. Please be aware that students who live within the district boundaries will receive first consideration. Out-of-district students who attend Franklin Pierce schools must be granted another year’s release and will be placed in the program after all qualifying in-district students have been served. If you have any questions, please contact Annette Burnett by phone at (253) 298-3062 or by email at aburnett@fpschools.org.
Notes from Ms. Marta...
In order to ensure everyone's safety, the School Health Check attestation is to be filled out DAILY for each child. Please complete before 9am or earlier if possible. Attestations done after 9:00 am may result in students checking in for temperature and symptom assessments. If you are not receiving the email link, contact the office immediately.
Please keep your child home if he/she has; a cough, sore throat, headache, congestion, runny nose, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, muscle aches, fatigue or states that he/she is not feeling well. Please continue to do the morning attestations even if your child will stay home AND notify the office or health room of symptoms. Changes in safety and wellness protocols requires parents to wait until the nurse calls and confirms a return date before sending students back to school.
Thank you for your continued attention to these matters. Feel free to call the health room at 253.298.3408 with any questions.
How are pick-up and drop-off different for parents?
We want pick-up and drop-off to be as efficient as possible for parents and to avoid traffic jams. In the morning, students can be dropped off anywhere in the zone. We try to completely fill the area with cars, have everyone exit, and then fill the area again for maximum efficiency. If someone is held up in front of you, feel free to go around them to an open spot. Remember, the left lane is a no stopping/loading zone. As a reminder, school starts at 9:35. Please drop your students off between 9:25-9:35.
To make it easier to find your child(ren) during dismissal, we are lining up students alphabetically in color zones. If there is a space to park in your child’s zone, feel free to go around the parked cars to pull into that zone. We hope that our pick-up/drop-off system will get smoother and more efficient as we go. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
HOW TO FIND YOUR CHILD'S BUS ROUTE
Use the E-LINK SITE to find out your child's bus route and pick-up/drop-off times. When you get to the site, type in the following username and password:
Username: guest
Password: guest
Note: It is important that parents also check back a few days prior to school starting, as route schedules do change as more students are enrolled.
If you have further questions, please feel free to call the Collins office at 253-298-3400 or Transportation at 253-298-3871.
Would you like to know when your student’s bus is going to be late or what is happening?
Helpful Resource: Once you know your child's route, you should consider signing up for bus route notifications using Bus Bulletin. Bus Bulletin will send you text messages to your cell phone with real-time updates on your child's route. For instance, if your child's route is running late, Bus Bulletin will let you know.
How to sign-up to use Bus Bulletin:
- Log onto the website http://busbulletin.com/parents/ and look to the right side of your screen. Click on “Sign In”, click on "Register Here," and answer the simple prompts. You will provide your name, your email address, a password, and select Franklin Pierce Schools. Then enter the code on the screen, accept the rules of use, and finally click on Submit.
- You will then be asked to select the route, which is written in code:
- The first two numbers are the ROUTE NUMBER, and the letters are the SCHOOL abbreviation:
- Preschool: HDS for Head Start and ELC
- Primary: BD, CA, CH, CO, ELM, HA, JS, MD
- Secondary: FMS, FPHS, KMS, WHS, GATES
- Example: 19FMS is route 19, Ford Middle School.
