SAS Update
October 25, 2019
THE WEEK AHEAD!
Junior High Dance
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25,
5:30 - 8:30 p.m. in THE SCHOOL HALL
It's time for our first junior high dance of the year! Costumed 6th-8th Graders are invited to gather down in the hall for pizza, dancing, and Halloween-themed fun. The cost is $10 per person, and the following contributions are requested:
6th: beverages
7th: desserts
8th: snacks
Drop off is at the School Office door (C1) from 5:20-5:45. After 5:45, the doors will be locked and no one else will be admitted, so make sure your students are on time. The School Office door will open for pickup from 8:15-8:30, and parents should come downstairs to pick up their students.
Pancake Breakfast
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26,
8-11 a.m. at TF SOUTH
Kick off your Halloween fun with a delicious breakfast prepared by Lansing’s own Copper Muggers! There will also be raffle baskets and a bake sale, nd there are still some open volunteer spots. This is a really fun one that doesn't even feel like work!
Remember, ALL proceeds come back to the school to be used for field trips for our children. We do not pay the Copper Muggers anything for the food or their time, so we earn 100% of the ticket price. If you can't use the tickets you already purchased, please try to resell them or even pass them on to someone else.
Trunk or Treat
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27,
2:00-4:00 p.m. IN THE
SAS PARKING LOT
All are invited to this FREE “trick-or-treating” experience in a safe and secure Halloween environment. It's a chance for the kids to dress in costume and trick or treat from car to car instead of from door to door . . . and for the grownups who want in on the fun to pick a theme, dress up, and decorate their cars! Register your car here. There will also be a DJ, prizes, and hot chocolate. Bring your friends!
We Go N.U.T.S for Your Delicious Halloween Treats!
WE STILL NEED BAKED GOODS! Thank you to the families who sent in their treats today. If you are still able to contribute, please bring to the breakfast tomorrow as early as possible. Your children will receive a NUT card for a dress down day to take place on Monday.
Chili Cook-Off at Trunk or Treat
Is your chili the best? Now's your chance to prove it! Register at the Signup Link to be one of a dozen contestants who will compete in our first-ever Chili Cook-Off for bragging rights (and a prize!). Entry fee is only $10 and a large crock of your famous chili (made at home and brought in something in which you can keep it warm). Tasters will pay $5, and we will provide tasting bowls and spoons. We will have local celebrity judges, and tasters will also vote for a fan favorite. Bring on the chili!
Candy Contest
Thank you to everyone who sent in candy this week! The winning class will be announced on our Facebook page as soon as results have been tabulated.
Bricks 4 Kidz
Session Two begins October 30 and runs through December 11 (with no class on November 27 for the Thanksgiving Break). Bricks 4 Kidz at St. Ann is for K-6th graders, meets on Wednesdays from 3-4:00 p.m. and costs $60 per session. This STEM activity fills up fast, so register soon online here! The new theme is "Interesting Inventions."
Palace Planning Session
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 30, 7:00 p.m. at J.J. KELLEY'S
If you want to keep SAS vital and thriving for the future while we work on our growth, we need as many parents as possible to please consider joining our planning session next Wednesday for the Night at the Palace event coming in March 2020. We are in the process of forming a strategy for the event and hoping to take it in a new direction. Our younger and newer families should have a voice, as well as those veteran school parents--and we want to hear from YOU! We will gather in the Clover Room at J.J. Kelley's, 2455 Bernice Road, Lansing. Please bring your ideas and your friends―the more the merrier!
Halloween Dress Down/Dress Up Day
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 31
The entire school is invited to dress down in Halloween colors/themed tees on Thursday. ONLY PreK and Kindergarten may dress up in their Halloween costumes.
Start the Weekend Early!
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 1:30 p.m.
School will let out early for our monthly faculty development day. Extended Day will be offered as usual.
Are Your Students Missing Any Sacraments?
Please Make Sure Your Students Have Their Supplies Every Day!
All 4th through 8th graders need to be sure to bring their Chromebooks to school with them every single day. They should be all charged and ready to go. Additionally, they should all have an inexpensive calculator to use.
If you could also remind your 5th-8th graders to bring EVERYTHING they need with them when they transfer classrooms, it would be greatly appreciated. This means bringing pencils and paper with them when they go to the Math Room. Teachers have been supplying these consumables to students so that they do not need to return to their lockers--these come out of the teachers' own supplies, and end up being very costly. Therefore, donations of extra pencils and loose leaf to replace those that have been "borrowed" would also be welcomed.
Keep on Clipping!
If you are still seeing clippable Box Tops on the things you purchase, please continue sending them in as long as they aren't expired. If you can send them in by Monday, October 28, they will be added to our quarterly submission going in next week. Ask your friends and relatives to continue saving Box Tops for you, too! The Halloween-themed collection sheet is available on our website. You can even send them in in a baggie--simply write the count and your child's name and grade on the outside of the bag.
Looking for part-time employment?
FSP, our foodservice management company, is looking to hire someone to work on-site at St. Ann! This is a great opportunity for a mom, dad, aunt, uncle, or a grandparent to have convenient part-time hours that fit with the school day! FSP will offer on-the-job training to an energetic, dependable person who can work five hours per day, serving breakfast and lunch and placing orders. Some computer experience is preferred, but not necessary, For more information, please contact: RKaczanowski@FSPRO.com
You Can Still Get a Discount on Early Yearbook Orders!
Order your 2019/20 yearbooks by October 30 and get 10% off the $25.00 regular price! Go to www.treering.com/validate and enter our St. Ann School code: 101378829749327. We are already working on the current yearbook, so if you take any photos that you wouldn't mind sharing with us, we would love to have them. Field trips, classroom parties, sports candids, and other events, we always need these! Please email your contributions to yearbook@stannschoollansing.org.
Save the Date: Friday, November 22
We're still working on the details, but HSA will be holding its very first St. Ann Trivia Night! Put it on your calendars, and if you have an idea or would like to join the committee, please send an email to Janniew710@aol.com.
Pot of Gold Tickets
Win $500 in November! Your child should have brought home an envelope containing your Pot of Gold tickets a few weeks ago. You have already paid for these through your Fundraising Fee--we just need you to fill out the stubs and return them so you will be in the first Early Bird Drawing on November 24. If you want to try to resell them, you simply need to fill in the name of your purchaser (with your name on the back as seller). Your buyer will pay you, and you keep that money. Don't delay, or you'll miss a chance at $500 in the Early Bird!
Are You Sending in Your Stracks Receipts? Please ask others to save them for you too!
Collect Strack & VanTil Food Market register receipts dated between September 1, 2019 and March 2, 2020 to help St. Ann earn FREE educational rewards! Every classroom has a Collection Envelope, and we will be tallying the value of the receipts turned in. The class that brings in the most will win a prize!
