TOP DOG CLAP-OUT: MAY 26!
Clap-Out is a Galatas tradition held in honor of our Top Dogs. Even though we are not able to be together in school for this event, we would like to "Clap-Out" our fourth graders via a car parade. On May 26, we are inviting fourth grade families to join in the car parade through the school's front drive as our staff lines the route to cheer them on to their future endeavors.
· Please feel free to decorate your vehicle to celebrate your Top Dog!
· In an effort to keep the parade moving and not block traffic on Cochran’s Crossing Drive, we ask that you please follow the recommended times below to join the parade.
· Please enter the school drive from the north on Cochran’s Crossing Drive and exit south (turn right) onto Cochran’s Crossing Drive when leaving the school. This will eliminate crossing traffic.
· While waiting in your vehicle, please do not block cross streets. This will allow residents to enter and exit their neighborhoods with minimal interruption.
Mitchell Intermediate Transition Information
Students received the Mitchell 4th Grade Packet that included a Fine Arts form for you to indicate your child's intentions. Since the Mitchell band and orchestra directors visited with the 4th graders last week, so many parents are requesting a change in what they indicated on the form. Therefore, we created this digital form. Please complete the form below no later than Monday, May 10 which is following our May 8 Instrument Evaluation that will be held at Mitchell Intermediate.

Medication at School
The school must receive a written and dated request from the parent or legal guardian to administer any medication. This permission must include the name of the drug, the exact dosage and reason or purpose the student is to receive the medication. Prescription and nonprescription drugs must be in the original container and properly labeled. You may print and fill out the form at the link below. To schedule an appointment with the nurse to drop off medication, please email the Galatas Nurse, Katy Riggs, at kriggs@conroeisd.net.
A Change of Clothes and Mask
Accidents happen, and a change of clothes is a good idea in the event of a spill, fall in the mud, or other accident. The clinic does not have a supply of clothes for students to use this year.
Also, masks may get soiled at lunch, recess, or specials. Please pack an extra mask with your student's extra change of clothes.
Can My Child Go to School Today?
Lunch Box Deliveries from Parents
Lunches should be dropped off no later than 10:00 AM to ensure that the students are able to get it before their lunch time.
You will need to email your student's teacher to let them know that you have dropped off a lunch. The student will then be sent to the office to collect their lunch.
No Deliveries of Forgotten Items at This Time
As the weather gets warmer, please be sure to send a labeled water bottle to school with your child. This will ensure that our students stay hydrated throughout the day. Each grade level does have a limited supply of water if a student forgets their water bottle.
-Eye glasses are an exception. If a student forgets their glasses, please label them with the child's name and section number. When arriving on campus with the glasses, please use the call button to the right of the front center doors, and someone will assist you.
-A parent may bring a lunch for a student if necessary. Please see above article, "Lunch Box Deliveries from Parents", for instructions.
-If a student forgets their lunch, they can get a lunch from the cafeteria. At this time, the first lunch a student gets from the cafeteria is free each day.
-If a student forgets their water bottle, each grade level has bottles of water for students. Please email the teacher, and they will get your child a bottle of water.
-For forgotten homework or other class work, please contact the teacher and make arrangements for the student to turn it in the next school day.
**Please label your student's personal water bottles! If a bottle is left somewhere in the school, and it has the student's name on it, it can easily be returned to the student.

2021-2022 School Calendar
The CISD Board of Trustees has approved the 2021-2022 calendar. For your planning purposes, please download the calendar here.
We thank you in advance for planning all vacations and travel outside of the school calendar. When students are absent, they miss valuable instruction that takes place daily. In addition to the loss of that instructional time, Texas schools are rated not only on academic performance, but also on student attendance. Daily attendance plays a large role in our accountability rating from the state.
We appreciate your support in this matter, and look forward to a great school year!

Transportation Change Reminders
As the weather gets warmer and many activities are starting again, we wanted to remind families of the different ways to do a transportation change for your student. These procedures are in place to ensure that every student is safe and accounted for as they leave school each day.
All transportation changes must be received in writing by 2:00 p.m. We are unable to accept a phone call. You may fill out the Transportation Change form that was provided to you, send a written note, or fill out a form in the front office. Please include the date, your child’s full name, section number, bus number (if applicable), and your signature.
If an emergency arises, you may send an email to galatastransportation@conroeisd.net. The e-mail must include all of the above information, including a written parent signature, and must be received before 2:00 p.m.
Please send a new note for each day the change occurs; we cannot accept notes for multiple days or with multiple changes. District policy states that a student may only ride the bus they are registered to ride; students may not have a transportation change to ride a different bus.
Important Car Rider Information
We are asking for your help with the following procedures that will keep our car line moving, and keep everyone safe:
- Please do not arrive earlier than 3:00 p.m. to line up for the car rider line. Our dismissal begins promptly at 3:10 p.m., and runs smoothly with all cars processed through the car line by approximately 3:25. Arriving closer to our dismissal time will help with the flow of traffic on Cochran's Crossing Drive.
- Do not make U-turns on Cochran's Crossing Drive or in the adjacent neighborhoods. It is not safe for pedestrians or other drivers.
- Do not obstruct the sight line for drivers exiting their neighborhoods. The police have placed cones on both sides of the entrance to Hayden's Run and Wyndspire to protect the sight line. Use caution and check traffic in all directions when driving in this area.
- Be courteous and patient
- Day care and students requiring extra time to load cars will be processed first in the car-line. These individuals and companies have received specific directions from the school.
- If your child needs assistance buckling their seat belt, please pull forward and to the side after loading before assisting your child.
- Use of cell phones is prohibited in a school zone and subject to a $200 fine.
Your assistance with this request is greatly appreciated. We want to keep everyone happy, healthy, and safe!
Walker/Biker Pick Up
Parents may meet walkers and bikers at the top of the hill at the front of the school for dismissal.
Please do not park in the Silvershire Neighborhood to drop-off or pick-up your child as a walker. Instead, we recommend parking in Cattail park and enjoying a short walk on the hike and bike trail to our campus.
Thank you for all your help!
