"This is the beginning of anything you want."
- Unknown
With Appreciation:
- Big kudos to our holiday planning committee - the staff holiday party was yummy and fun! Looking forward to continuing the tradition next year!
- Hooray for Markus and Arty - they worked over the holiday break on deep cleaning in common spaces and on general upkeep and work orders. We appreciate their efforts during the holidays!
New Information/Things to Do:
LCES Handbook
- we've updated our school handbook with a PE Excusal policy and language about smart snack policy.
- our goal is to educate families and staff about the new food service policies this school year and to work to enforce them in 2018-19.
- find the updated handbook on our website or click here.
Back Parking Lot - 6 spots MAX (classified and certificated staff)!
- the city called us to indicate we are using too many spots.
- can we work together to figure out a plan to limit parking
- one idea - raffle off 6 spots each quarter? Hoping we can just work it out! :)
Fire Drill on 1/23 during a recess transition (probably AM)
- please work with your class to establish a plan for these tricky times
- Jen will give the classes whose recess is interrupted a few extra minutes of play time
End of Semester Awards & Celebration
We've made paper and electronic invites. You can pick up paper invites from Tricia on Wed., 1/10, and Jen will email you the PDF invite on 1/8.
Schedule of Awards (PLEASE be on time!):
- 8:20-8:40 - AM K and 1st grade (in MPR; 1st gr will come in from blacktop - can leave bags on blacktop or leave them at the red tables)
- 9:15-9:35 - grades 2 & 3 (in MPR; dismiss right to recess)
- 10:25-10:45 - grades 4 & 5 (in MPR; come in from recess)
- 2:20-2:40 - PM K (in K Classroom - Dayna, Mandy? Who wants to host?)
Campus Gates
If you come/leave the campus through a gate, please be sure to lock it behind you (both before and after school and especially during the day) in order to support the safety of our staff and students. Not only is a locked gate a first deterrent for folks we don't want on campus, we also have a couple of children on campus who may be likely to run, and an open gate makes it too easy for them.
Remind students that they are to leave through the front gates to meet their ride. We've had kids try to jump the fence to meet rides in that parking lot...but it's unsupervised.
Upcoming Meetings/Activities:
Important things to know this week:
- Will - expect him in the mornings on M, Th and F, and not at all on T or W
- Tuesday - Jen and Will are at a PBIS training - Laura Sliepen will be our TIC
- Wednesday morning - Skip will be on site
- Thursday at 3 pm - PTC is meeting in the Science Room, all staff are welcome!
- Friday - report cards GO HOME; all names for Semester 1 Awards are due to Tricia; last day to submit a new SST packet
- Tutoring resumes this week after school!
Older Stuff/Reminders
Working Late?
- If you find yourself in a situation where you aren't feeling safe or you need help, don't hesitate to call Arty at 916 297 5210 (he's here until about 10 pm) or Jen at 702 324 6884 or if needed you can always dial 911 for support.
- Should you find that you are having issues where your safety is a concern, please let Jen know so can figure out how to address it.
Travel Study Documents
- Be sure to complete all of "Part 2 - EVALUATION OF STUDENT WORK."
- This is the part tells Tricia whether to give the child an excused or unexcused absence
- Completion is essential, and is what's monitored in an audit
