Spotlight on I&E: Art Enrichment with Roxy Therapy Dogs
Tucker, the Roxy Reader dog, returned to art room 416 for Intervention and Enrichment this Wednesday. Tucker is a favorite among students, as he loves to just lie down and soak up the love! Students enjoyed interacting with Tucker, while drawing and painting sketches of our furry friend. Students worked in pencil, watercolor, or acrylic, producing some wonderful sketches and small paintings! We hope to see Tucker again during I&E this spring. See below for some pictures of his visit!
Spotlight on InC
Madame Gluck’s InC students worked together to create newspaper towers. Some of the students then decided to morph their towers into communal air bridges!
Footloose!
The Lenape Players are proud to present this year’s spring musical, “Footloose!” “Footloose” is based on the 1984 movie of the same title which tells the story of a Chicago teen (Ren) and his mother who move to the small farming town of Boumont. Although prepared for the inevitable adjustment to a new high school, Ren is not prepared for the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing as instituted by the local preacher. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. With the help of its Oscar and Tony-nominated Top Forty score, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people while guiding them with a warm and open mind.
Footloose will be presented on March 10th and 11th at 7 PM and on March 12th at 2 PM and 7 PM. Tickets to Footloose can be purchased online or at the door. All tickets are reserved seating.

Spring Sports
All 7th and 8th grade spring sports will begin on Monday, March 21 (2:30-4:30).
All participants must be registered on Family ID and approved by the athletic director before being allowed to participate. A list is provided outside the Lenape gym door on the bulletin board for kids to check if they are approved or not. This list will be updated daily until March 21. If kids are not approved, it means they are missing some paperwork in Family ID. Most kids are missing Section 8 of the Cippe form which is a recertification form signed by the parents.
All participants should bring gear ready for practice on March 21 (Sneakers, athletic clothing, equipment, and water) Coaches will discuss practice schedules and information specific to their sport on the first day.
All athletic gear can be stored and locked in the boys’ and girls’ locker rooms during the school day. The team rooms will be open from 7:15-7:30 each morning for the kids to drop off their bags. Kids will then have access to the team rooms at the end of the day (2:30-2:45) to get ready for practice.

Cuts
There is a possibility coaches may need to make cuts in some sports if the numbers are too high. Kids may only tryout for one sport. If a student gets cut in a sport, they may join another sport that did not have to make cuts if the numbers are not too high. They must get permission from Mr. Kriney and the coach of the other sport. We will not do multiple tryouts in any sport!

Schmon Student Lounge
If you would like to donate to help make this space a reality, you can do so by sending a check made out to Lenape Middle School or by donating directly on MyPaymentsPlus and selecting "Schmon Student Lounge".
Our goal is to have this space available for a variety of purposes throughout the school day as well as after school. We want a warm and inviting space for students to gather, work, play, and enjoy social time together.
We are looking to add a large screen TV as well as a gaming system that is not pictured. We also plan on stocking the cabinets with games, coloring, puzzles, mindfulness tools, and more. There will be a mural that is being designed and created by our students and curtains that our sewing classes will be making.
We are excited to made Jodi's dream a reality. Thank you for your help!

Smart But Scattered: Free Virtual Presentation
Executive skills are brain-based skills such as task initiation, sustained attention, working memory, planning, organization, and goal-directed persistence that are critical to school success. They are critical to the acquisition of academic skills, but more importantly, they are the skills students need to get things done. Many students struggle with them and for these kids, schooling without the structure of the classroom to support them may be particularly challenging. In this free virtual presentation sponsored by the Bucks County IU on Thursday, April 7 from 6:00 to 7:30, Dr. Peg Dawson will describe how these skills develop throughout childhood and suggest strategies parents can use to help children acquire the critical skills they need to be successful students. Click here for more information and to register.
Sewing Donation Request

A Note About Vacation Requests
Guidance "Sparks"
In a recent article by psychologist Louis Tay, he states, “Don’t push your children toward skills just because they pay well. Financial success is only one dimension of a fulfilling life.” Teaching our children to understand and value money can be a challenge in our world especially when we consider what is “needed” and what is “wanted”. As part of our Career Education Program through the District’s Success Plan (Smart Futures and Naviance), we provide lessons and resources on various topics including “How Money is Used” in the primary grades, to budgeting, financial literacy and entrepreneurship in the secondary grades. These are important lessons to help your daughter or son see a path to their future goals and a means to attain those goals. Ask your student to log onto these platforms and show you what they are learning.

Safe2Say
Safe2Say is a valuable resource that has been set up by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to provide a method for anyone to report a concern about a student or group of students 24/7. Please note some important reminders about the use of Safe2Say:
- If you put in a tip, please check back often for communications. The tip line is monitored 24/7 at the state level. The tip is sent to the school and/or police if it is deemed "Life Safety" immediately. It is sent in the morning if it is determined to be "Non-Life Safety."
- It is important to include as much information as possible. If you have evidence of your concerns, please share that evidence via the tip or with us. You can attach pictures and videos in the Safe2Say system.
Please remember that Safe2Say is statewide system that is used in collaboration with the State Attorney's Office, emergency responders, and school officials. It is important to know that tips are reviewed on the state level before being passed to the local police and/or school authorities. Please consider the purpose of your tip - Is it to provide another person with a way to receive help? Is it preventing an act of violence? Is it something that needs to involve local and state authorities? While the system is anonymous, abuse of the system will not be tolerated and actions will be taken if it is determined that the system is being used inappropriately.
