Full Cicada Moon - Part 3 - Setting
Marika Harmon
School
This is where most of the book, so far, takes place. She makes a friend named Stacey. Her classmates are curious but, in some what, a rude way. Mimi's first mini movement is started here. She wants to take shop, a boy class, rather than home ec. At school, she tries to defy the school system and try to change it for the better.
White Victorian House decorated with Japanese Stuff inside
Mimi's mom is traditional. She celebrates every holiday Japan would and makes Obento everyday for Mimi to eat at Lunch. This is a setting in the book because this is where she lives and this is where all of her friends start understanding who she is - Timothy and Stacey.
Vermont
Snow and the cold weather is all new to her. Moving from California to Vermont, snow is unusual and snow days never happen. Most people don't see have Asian, half black girls walking down the street often. Moving to Vermont is a new experience which makes things a big awkward for Mimi in the Beginning.
Sky
Mimi mind has never been on the ground. When she starts dreaming, the dream starts to fly and will never come back down. She loves everything that has to do with space, giving her even more of a reason to live in the sky. In the book, She would die or risk anything to look through a telescope or watch Apollo 11 lift off.
Garage
The garage is where Mimi's inspiration began. This gives Mimi the reason to go against the school rules and try to end the barrier of gender specific classes. In the book she tried to get in the class without any knowledge, but was denied. Second time she tried but got some help from Timothy but got denied once again.
