Dear Parents / Carers,
Spring has sprung! It has been lovely to come into school in the light this week and to see the daffodils starting to bloom. On the news, there is light at the end of the Covid tunnel even if it may still be a long way off and we can't wait to welcome all of our children back on the 8th March.
I will be sending out full details of the re-opening early next week and I know that with the shops still closed there may be more issues than in September. Do not worry, we are here to support you and the most important thing is that the children are back in school.
You may be aware that there has been a new issue of shielding notices this week which is having a small impact on staffing in school but every class will be open with an adult known to the children in place. Our classes will continue to work as bubbles as they did before this latest lockdown so the children will be familiar with any procedures and practices already.
We have lots of exciting learning planned for the remainder of this term and are looking forward to seeing you all soon.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Karen Williams

Pupil Premium & Free School Meals Funding
As you will be aware, Universal Free School Meals are automatically available to all children in EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2. However, if you meet certain criteria, your child may be eligible for Free School Meals for the whole of their primary education as well as additional funding to support them with their education, called a 'Pupil Premium'. This additional funding benefits our school to support us to increase your child's attainment.
To qualify for Free School Meals and Pupil Premium funding, you must fulfil one of the following criteria:
- Universal Credit, provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods (£616.67 per month);
- Income Support;
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance;
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance;
- Support under part six of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999;
- The guarantee element of Pension Credit;
- Child Tax Credit, provided you are also not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual household gross income that does not exceed £16,190 (as assessed by HMRC); or
- Working Tax Credit run-on, paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit.
If your family circumstances change, you may become eligible. Please see the North Yorkshire website below for more information and to access the relevant application forms. Once your application has been processed, school will be notified automatically . If you require any support with understanding Free School Meals and Pupil Premium funding or help with your application, please call one of our admin team who will be happy to advise.
Welcome back, I hope you’ve all managed to enjoy the milder weather and get
outside for some fresh air. With the continuation of the Express Yourself
Theme these Compass Buzz resources will help you support your child to explore
and celebrate differences.
Each of us are unique in our own way, whether it is portrayed in how we like to
dress, or the hobbies we take part in or skills that we have – difference is
beautiful. We all have qualities that make us unique, that make us special, this
Compass Buzz resource will help your child celebrate what is special about them.
Music can be a fabulous way to express yourself. This can be through songs that
remind them of happy times, or songs that just really resonate with how they
feel. Music has the power to bring us all together and what better way to do
that then create a playlist that everyone can enjoy.
I hope you are finding these activates useful.
