SLI Families:
SLI NJHS is helping run a food drive on behalf of YMCA. It is much appreciated if you can donate any of the items listed.
Also, included in this newsletter is internet safety tips for families. With such easy access to a variety of technology platforms, it is best practice to check your child's phone on a regular basis and be aware of the website he/she frequents.
Have a beautiful fall weekend,
Mrs. Jill Marr
THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE
Music Department Poinsettia Fundraiser
In 2011, the Silver Lake Music Department developed a scholarship fund to give deserving students financial assistance to attend music camps/lessons. During the first 9 years, more than 115 students have received scholarships totaling $13,500! AMAZING!
The Silver Lake Music Department again needs your help to raise money for our summer music camp/lesson scholarship fund during our 10th annual poinsettia sale. This year we would like to be able to give at least another 10 scholarships of $200 each to deserving band, choir, and orchestra students. Monetary donations to the scholarship fund are welcome as well. The more people you tell about our wonderful scholarship program (like relatives, co-workers, and friends), the more scholarships we will be able to give!
The poinsettias you purchase will also decorate our gym for our 7/8 grade holiday concert on Monday, December 20. The plants can be picked up after that concert or during the school day on Tuesday, December 21.
Orders are being done through the OASD Web Store. A direct link to the store is:

Orders are due by Friday, November 19. An informational sheet is attached to this email that you can give to your relatives, co-workers, and friends. Thank you in advance for making our scholarship fund grow—we know that Silver Lake families can help us meet our tenth year goal!
Sincerely,
The SLI Music Staff

Masks are required on school buses
Please Bring A Mask From Home For The Bus
Thank you to our students and families for supporting the mask requirement on OASD school buses. That mask requirement is still in place based on the federal transportation mask mandate, but the district has depleted its supply of disposable face masks. As a result, disposable masks will no longer be available to students before they get on the bus at the end of the day. Please begin sending your child onto the bus in the morning with their own face mask and remind them to use that face mask again before they board the bus at the end of the day. As a reminder, face masks must be on before boarding the bus and must be worn for the entire bus ride.
Reading Interventionist Position(s) @SLI
One of the positions is a reading intervention teacher which must be certified with a regular education license. An additional 316/317 is preferred. The second position does not need licensure. These position are part time at $23.00. (Each year of local service provides a .25 increase) The schedule will be for 153 days, 5.5 hours per day starting as soon as possible.
