LABOR DAY - NO SCHOOL MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 2
From Mr. Martin
We have completed almost three full weeks of school. Remember, our first goal was to establish high expectations and teach how we manage our school. I am proud of our students and staff for that accomplishment. Our goal from here on out is about teaching and learning. That is the work part of school which is hard.
AM/PM dismissal:
I am comfortable with our system that we have in place to ensure the safe arrival and departure of our students. I would remind parents that Maple Street is a residential street and not designed for pick up and drop off. I would also remind you that we are neighbors and want to be a good neighbor. We provide a lot of time and effort to ensure our student’s safety and discourage the use of Maple Street. Please utilize the carloop.
Parenting in the Digital Age:
This was a presentation last year in the spring and I am proud to say Dr. Natasha Burgert is providing PD to our TRMS staff on September 23, 2019.

Mr. Smith and Mrs. Najera sponsor FCS every Wednesday @ 7:30am in Mr. Smith’s room - A101 in the 8th grade hallway. FCS gives students an opportunity to connect with students who have similar interests and beliefs and model how to connect with and serve our community here at TRMS. This is open for grades 5-8. We would love to see you there!
From Nurse Rhea:
Parents of 7th Grade Students: Please remember to send documentation of your student’s Tdap and Meningococcal immunizations to our office. These immunizations are mandatory for all 7th grade students to attend school in the state of Kansas.
Students will not be allowed to attend school on October 22, or until proof of immunization is received. Exclusion letters will be mailed out the last week in August. Please contact me if my records do not match yours.
REPORTING A STUDENT ABSENCE
If your student needs to miss school for any reason, please notify the office. Parents are able to report the absence via Skyward (Family Access). Click on the "Attendance" option on the Menu. Once in the Attendance section, click on "Absence Request." Please make sure to include the reason for your student's absence. This feature will submit an email to the attendance secretary.
This can ONLY be accessed via the PARENT Skyward account. Students do not have access to this feature.
If you need to pick up your student early for an appointment, etc., please call the office when you are on your way and we will call your student to meet you in the office. You must come into the office to sign them out. It is not necessary to sign them back in, as they can do that on their own.
