“Back the Blue Day”
WHAT: 3rd Annual Kingsport City Schools “Back the Blue Day”
WHEN: Thursday, November 1, 2018
WHERE: Kingsport City Schools – All KCS locations
Kingsport City Schools (KCS) has designated Thursday, November 1, 2018 as KCS "Back the Blue Day.” Members of the Kingsport Police Department (KPD), KCS Student Resource Officers (SROs) and KPD K-9 Units will be honored in a variety of ways for their ongoing service to the students and staff of Kingsport City Schools.
“We are so thankful for the service that the men and women of the Kingsport Police Department provide Kingsport City Schools on a daily basis,” said KCS Superintendent Dr. Jeff Moorhouse. “The partnership of KCS and KPD helps to provide the safest possible environment for our children and employees. Back the Blue Day is just one way for us to say thank you to the Kingsport Police Department for all they do to protect our community.”
KCS students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to wear blue on November 1 to show support of KPD. Photos and videos will be posted throughout the day on district (Facebook/Twitter) and school (Twitter) social media account using the national hashtag, #BacktheBlue.
In addition, from now until November 5, 2018 please vote for the four-legged officers in the Kingsport Police Department by casting your vote in the 2018 Aftermath K-9 Grant Competition. Awarded grant money will be used to further establish the KPD K9 unit. You can vote once every 12 hours online, at https://www.aftermath.com/k9-grant/ and vote once daily on Instagram (follow @AftermathK9Grant for instructions).

From the Art Room (Mr. Hilton)
Picasso Hero/Villain- Using Picasso's Cubism technique, create a picture of a recognizable character using oil pastels.
Group Face Project- Assigning different pieces of the face to different individuals at the table, as a group, draw facial features from different reference images and collage them together. It WILL be a beautiful monstrosity, probably.
