A Note from the Cafeteria
Parents please remember when sending in breakfast/lunch money to make the check out to "LOTHROP" not the Abbey Group.
Also a reminder that my computer will not allow charges for students to get just a milk ( cold lunchers) if they don't have enough money in their account. Water from the fountain will be offered. Negative balance/low balance notices are sent home weekly via letters and email.
Thank-you, Linda, cafeteria supervisor

What is happening in Music Class?
Kindergarten: Kinder Musicians have all had their first day of music! In music class this week, we are learning about how to sing and dance with our friends. Mrs. Bruce thinks this kindergarten class already has some awesome dance moves!
First and Second Grade
First and Second graders are beginning to learn some new songs and games in music class. Ask your child to sing a few for you, like “In the Woods,” or “Do your ears hang low?”
Third and Fourth Graders
Third and Fourth graders are working on some basic music terms, such as dynamics and rhythm! In the next few weeks, third and fourth graders will use what they are learning to help them “escape” the music room!
Fifth and Sixth Graders
This week, fifth and sixth graders have been using what they know about music to “escape” the music room! They have been working in teams to solve all five of the puzzles.
Band/Chorus
On Thursday, students will be bringing home forms to sign up for chorus. Chorus will continue to be on Tuesday and Thursday morning from 7:40-8:00, and is open to all students in grades 3-6. Please return the chorus form so your child has permission to come into the building early! Also, band lesson schedules and new band forms will be going home to students Thursday. Lessons begin on Monday! Check for the day your child needs to bring their instrument to school. Band will be on Fridays this year. Questions? Email Mrs. Bruce at cmader@rnesu.org.Safety Request

PTO Update
Welcome Back Lothrop Students!
The Lothrop PTO would like to welcome our new students and returning students. The Lothrop PTO meets the first Wednesday of the month in the Lothrop Library at 6:30pm. ALL Lothrop families are considered members of the PTO and are welcome to attend meetings.
The Lothrop PTO conducts fundraisers every year in order to support our mission of enriching the education of Lothrop Students. ALL Lothrop students benefit from our efforts. We will hold a 'Fundraising Blitz' where a number of fundraisers will come home. We DO NOT expect families to participate in ALL of them. We hope that you would find one or two you like and support that way. Throughout the year we fund programs and plan fun events. Last year we hosted a Scholastic Book Fair, all proceeds from the book fair sales go back to the school so they may purchase books and supplies for their classrooms. Other events included: Trunk-or Treat, Lip Sync Battle, Tommy James Magic, Lothrop Exploratories, Four Winds Nature Program, MIleage Club, Field Trip to Montshire Museum, 6th grade Graduation Reception, Pittsford Christmas for Kids, End of Year Celebration, Grandfriends Tea, Pirates of Penzance Jr Musical, Staff Appreciation, and Library Kindle Books.
The Lothrop PTO also collects Box Tops for Education, Hannaford Helps reciepts, and Price Chopper Tools for Schools. Don't forget about Amazon Smile when you check out, select Lothrop PTO!

Tuesday, September 11 from 3:30-7:30pm Scholastic Book Fair-Open to the public
Wednesday, October 31 from 5:30-6:30pm Trunk or Treat at the Pittsford Recreation Area - Open to the public
