Newsletter Week 1 -Term 3 2021
St Joseph's Catholic School Morrinsville 27th July 2021
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Nau mai haere mai,
Welcome to Term 3. We are really excited to see the children back at school and hope the holidays went well. We start the term with Imaginative Prayer for our Religious Education focus. The children will be deepening the ways that they can pray for themselves and for others. Our core value of Ngakaupono -Integrity takes centre stage this term. We want the children to understand that right is right and wrong is wrong. Over the next few weeks, our staff will be highlighting ways to build integrity and sharing these with our children.
A special welcome to Kalayah Reith and Oscar Hickman. Kalayah is in Room 4 joining us from Hamilton. She is the first in her family to attend our school. Oscar has started in Akonga Hub and is very lucky to have his big brother Max at school as well. We know that our children will take great care of Kalayah and Oscar!
Over the holidays, our beautiful new seat has arrived for our prayer garden. It is in the shape of a cross and we know the children can't wait to use it! A special thank you to Park Benches Ltd for the creation they have designed. Later in the term we will bless our Prayer Garden and dedicate it to the Sisters of our Lady of the Missions.
A big learning focus for the first part of the term is oral language and presentation. The junior school will be learning and sharing poems and our middle and senior school will be writing and presenting poems.
This Friday we have a no uniform day. Please dress in yellow and gold to celebrate the Feast Day of St Anne.
Have a fantastic week. God bless you.

Our St Joseph's Church Parish News
Did you know that our church is open every day and not just on Sunday’s?
As we welcome the new term and all the schedules we run to in our busy lives, the church is open for you every day!
It’s a beautiful space for us to take a moment for ourselves to reflect, contemplate and pray, light a candle for a loved one or simply to give thanks.
So rather than waiting in the carpark, try popping into the church and feel the calm in the quiet presence of Jesus. The kids will find you (eventually), and perhaps even join you.
There is also a Mass @ 5.30pm on a Tuesday, a great detour to make on your journey home from work.
What's Happening This Week?
Reflection
We are told that Anne, was advanced in years before her prayers for a child were answered. An angel appeared and told her she would conceive a child who 'shall be spoken of in the world.' That of course was Mary, the mother of Jesus.
St Anne is the patron saint of mothers and women in labour, and minors.
