Biodiesel Cars
By: Maria and Kelly
What is it?
Biodiesel is a renewable, clean-burning diesel replacement that is reducing U.S. dependence on foreign petroleum, creating jobs and improving the environment.
How does it work?
Biodiesel is a fuel for diesel trucks, cars, buses and tractors. It is usually made from soybeans, a crop grown by farmers.
Where is it used?
How much does it cost?
Facts
- It burns much cleaner then diesel fuel and is nearly carbon neutral and biodiesel is non-toxic
- It is made from renewable resources
-They work much like fossil fuels: they burn when ignited, releasing energy that can be converted to motion in a car, or heat for a house
Positives
*Less Greenhouse Gas Emissions
* Experts believe that using biodiesel instead of petroleum diesel can reduce greenhouse gases up to 78%
*More Health Benefits
Why is it a good alternative?
Breathing in biodiesel is better for our lungs and hearts. When it comes out the exhaust pipe, it even smells better than diesel smoke.
Biodiesel has fewer harmful emissions compared to petroleum diesel. That means it keeps
our air cleaner and helps stop global warming.
