Technology Showcase 2018
A K-12 Friendly Competition
The Who and What
The Technology Showcase allows us to show the district and community what we are doing with the technology in our classrooms. We are asking that you take a project you do already and create a technology-based outcome. You can easily use the Performance Assessments or another project you do already. These can also be used as an assessment for your students, showing not only their creativity but the knowledge they have gained. I know that there are some great things going on in the classrooms; let's showcase it!
This does not have to be anything brand new to add to your curriculum; it should be a new way to assess the knowledge the students are able to show through their creative project. If you are already doing a project like this with technology, you can use that. If the project isn't technology-based, technology can be added to meet the needs of this showcase.
If you plan accordingly, this showcase can be used as documentation for your T-Tess Technology goal. What better way to show that you've met your goal than student driven projects!
Requirements
- Due dates are all the week of March 5-9; your principal has details. If you have any questions, ask your Instructional Technology Specialist on campus or talk to Tammy.
- We understand that you have many students. We are looking for 15-20 examples from students. They can come from one class or a combination of all students you teach.
- Your project should be posted in the hall by your room or in the area designated by your principal. Be sure to identify the projects with the name of the teacher that the students belong to for this project. You must have a QR code posted with your project so that it can be rated.
- Raters will come to the campuses to rate the projects on Creativity, Educational Value, and Engagement of the student with the technology and material as well as an Overall Score. The ratings of Proficient, Accomplished and Distinguished will be used.
- Every teacher who participates will receive a showcase certificate.
- There will be a Best of Show awarded for each of the three categories rated at each campus.
- The campus with the highest participation level of teachers will receive the top prize. This will be based on everyone who works with students and is provided with a district laptop. We are all striving for 100% participation; classroom teachers, Electives/Specials teachers, Title/Inclusion teachers, everyone!

Too big for a poster?
Upload all the documents, images, videos etc to your Google Drive and share the folder via a QR code or use a URL shortener like goo.gl or bitly. Raters will have access to a device and QR reader app where they can see your project.
QR Creator Suggestions
- I like QRStuff located at this link because I can change the color of the QR code to enhance what I am making.
- The goo.gl URL Shortener found here also allows you to create a QR code that you can screenshot
- Remember that Shift+Command+4 will allow you to capture part of your screen and save the screenshot to your desktop
How to Create a QR Code with QRStuff
Below is a video on how to create a QR code at the QR Stuff website. You can get to their website by clicking this link. Keep in mind that when you download the QR code, they are going to hit you up to buy their premium; just click No Thanks. It will come to your downloads title as qrcode....png; you can use that image or take a screenshot of the QR code that is created on their page. You can do this by pressing Shift+Command+4 on your keyboard and drawing a box around the QR Code; it will save as a ScreenShot to your desktop.
