Kindergarten Students Keep the Learning Rolling with Potatoes!
The annual St. Patrick's Day kindergarten activity turned into HUGE excitement on Friday with the yearly Potato Roll! As part of the non-standard measurement unit, students use shamrocks to count the distance their potatoes roll! This year, we naturally used the March Madness bracket theme, and congratulations to the winner, Emma, from Ms. Edwards's class! But let us tell you - it was a smashed potato hit for all the kindergarten students!
Instructional Round-Up - Grade 2 Activities!
Mrs. Herchelroath and Ms. Stiffler’s classes have been learning about plant life and saltwater/marine habitats during their reading block. They are following a learning style called “Core Knowledge Language Arts” where students learn about a topic through both fiction and nonfiction books before they apply their learning. Students will be using their plant life knowledge during the second grade science unit of plant life cycles. Mrs. H and Ms. Stiffler also collaborated with the 3rd grade team to build background knowledge on saltwater and freshwater habitats to help support their students when they focus on those habitats in their future third grade science units.

PNB Patrols and Ambassadors Get Some Big Lessons about Leadership
This morning, Safety Patrols and Student Ambassadors had the opportunity to work with and learn from the Student Council Association students from Independence High School as part of the Leadership Learning Lessons. Students learned about different leadership styles and opportunities available to them later on. One of the goals of this opportunity was to help our students connect what they are learning and doing now with what they can do in the future, bringing into practice our Pinebrook motto of "Today's Learners, Tomorrow's Leaders."
Friday Spirit Week!
We're bringing back Friday Spirit Day! Each Friday, have your child wear their PNB Spiritwear or house colors!

Common Sense Media
Have you ever wondered if a certain movie, show, video game or even book is appropriate for your child's age? Common Sense Media is a great resource that you can turn to for advice on these questions. You can look-up just about anything and find its recommended age level. They also have a multitude of resources on how to teach your child to be a responsible digital citizen. Students learn about digital citizenship in counseling, library and classroom lessons at school. We use Common Sense Media resources to help teach positive digital citizenship. In this day and age when technology is all around us, educating students and ourselves on all possible safety measures is a must. Check out the website, it's a great resource!

Remember, when you come to school...
- When you come to school, it's essential to be in the habit of three things:
- Make an appointment
- Have your ID;
- Have your phone, especially if you are tardy, picking up, or returning a child to school, as we use an electronic form to record the child's return. You will access the form via a QR code scanned by your phone.
