Virtual memory
Definition:
Virtual memory allows multiple programs to load in memory at the same time.
How it works:
When RAM runs low virtual memory removes data from RAM and place the data in a file named a paging file. Moving data from RAM frees it up so your computer can complete its work. This process makes it faster.
