The Yellow Jacket News
November 7, 2017
A Message from the Principal
Greetings St. Anthony Catholic High School Community!
God is Good!
It is with great excitement we get to share another STATE Championship WIN this past week! Our Cross Country team won the state meet on Friday and came back with medals, plaques and lots of Yellow Jacket spirit. We won in several categories because of the great gifts God has bestowed on our students and their ability to excel in cross country.
KSAT 12 will be here tomorrow (November 8) at 5pm to interview our State Champion Volleyball team. The story should air on Sunday evening and highlight the story of their winning season.
Our 'enrollment season' has been going well with over 15 students coming to shadow with us this past month and many more scheduled for the month of November. We are hoping to have a great crowd of future Yellow Jackets tomorrow for our Middle School Open House. We welcome all current families to attend.
We reminded students last week of the appropriate dress code to be followed which can be found on pages 28-32 of the student planner. Students will have until January 2018 to have the appropriate attire worn if not already purchased. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please contact Mr. Baker at rlbaker@uiwtx.edu.
The students received many compliments from the Catholic College Fair representative we had on campus last week :) We were proud of our students representing us well.
Most of the SACHS staff spent this past Saturday at the Assembly, which is a full day conference at St. Mary's University with sessions around the theme of 'Hearing the call of the Spirit to become Missionary Disciples' mostly led by the Archbishop and great Catholic speakers. It was a beautiful day hearing more inspiration to live out the gifts of the Holy Spirit here at SACHS. The day ended with our SACHS choir singing with other Catholic Schools in the Evening Prayer Service.
Join us for mass this Friday for a special Veteran's Day blessing.
This Saturday from 9am-2pm we will have our famous Fall Bazaar and this year we have over 30 vendors signed up so come join us for some fun shopping. All proceeds go towards Mission and Ministry.
We were deeply saddened by the event in Sutherland Springs. We had students enter the chapel in silence on Monday morning with the choir singing 'holy ground' to allow for moments of prayer for this tragedy. An additional prayer was shared during Adoration for the victims and their families. We are also encouraging students to write letters of hope and prayer to the Sutherland Springs community. Religion teachers will be collecting these letters if students want to participate.
Dear Lord and Creator- We thank You for the gift of life You give us each day to serve You. We want to love You more each day and become more of who You want us to become. We ask for Your protection and wisdom as we live our lives on this earth. Help us to bring more peace to Your world through our actions each day. Infuse the Holy Spirit all over the Holy Ground at St. Anthony Catholic High School. In Jesus Name, Amen.
'And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, the Holy Spirit.' John 14:16
May your life be blessed!

November 10 Veterans Day Blessing
We are so blessed at St. Anthony Catholic High School with so many families who have served or are currently serving our country. We are grateful for your service. We will have a special mass on Friday, November 10 at 8:00am with a special blessing for all veterans. After Mass, we will have a flag raising ceremony conducted by our students, Sebastian Caballero and Noah Zuniga, from Troops 405 and 87 respectively. Following our ceremony, we will have refreshments in the Library. If you are able, please send us a picture, (with their name on the back) of your family member that has served or is serving in the military for our display. Thank you again for all that you do for St. Anthony Catholic High School and our beloved United States of America.
