Cowles Montessori Crier
Week of October 31st through November 4th
Pre-Primary Classroom News
The Pre-Primary classrooms at Cowles have been busy embracing fall and all that comes with it. The classrooms have been learning about apples, leaves, pumpkins and fall harvest. Last spring some of the classrooms planted vegetable seeds and have now been harvesting their vegetables. Some of the vegetables we’ve grown include cauliflower, broccoli, potatoes, cherry tomatoes, sweet potatoes and pumpkins.
October is National Farm to School Month! Cowles will celebrate by making and sampling wholesome vegetable soup (no nuts, wheat, meat or dairy) in the classroom. First we will read the book “Growing Vegetable Soup” by Lois Elhert and talk about how to make the soup. We will be using our “practical life” lessons of washing, peeling and cutting vegetables to make the soup and then we will be eating the soup!

2076 Box Tops Collected...
I'm happy to report that we collected 2076 Box Tops total for our Fall Submission!
Ms. Thompson's class collected the most with 217 Box Tops! Ms. Gibson's class was a close 2nd with 203. On Monday morning the class was greeted by the robot at their door, holding some smiley face balloons. Each student received a Super Supporter Certificate to take home and the class received a laminated certificate to keep. Ms. Thompson has chosen a special surprise "thank you" for the students, involving some pumpkins and hands on fun coming soon.
Our next submission date is February 15th, so keep clipping and your class could be next.
A reminder, each classroom has a parent volunteer that helps to collect, sort and count for their class. Thank you parents!
Our goal is to double our earnings this year, reaching $1,200. I’ve had lots of people reporting an increased awareness and excitement from their children. I’m looking forward to watching this grow. Each of us can contribute and earn cash for our school.
Feel free to reach out with questions or suggestions any time.
