Dear Scott families,

This week brought more “beginning of the year” excitement as our teachers began building the foundations to dual language success in their classrooms, we welcomed our smallest Panthers, and celebrated with a R.O.A.R. Spirit Assembly! Read on for details, as well as to find out how you can get involved to help support the culture of our school!

On Thursday and Friday, students enjoyed an “all-out” Spirit Assembly! The exciting atmosphere included a “Spirit Tunnel” entrance, teacher and student cheerleaders, a review of our responsibilities, practicing our school chant, and…drum roll please… the grand unveiling of the New and Improved Panther Pay Store! Students earn Panther Pays when they display pro-school skills, and can spend their dollars periodically at the store. Ask your kids how they show their R.O.A.R.!

We at Scott are excited to grow the connection between our schools, families, and community! There are many ways that families can get involved, at a variety of commitment levels. Please consider getting involved in one or more of the following:

Parent-Teacher Organization PTO -

PTO is an organization composed of teachers, parents/care-givers, and school staff all working together to improve our school's community. The level of commitment is very flexible! There are about 5 meetings per year, and your involvement can range from giving ideas, donations, setting up luncheons, contacting families, and assisting with events.

Volunteering & Engagement Interest

Scott DL will launch volunteer opportunities again this year! How would you like to get involved? Look for an interest form in the coming weeks!

• Doors open and breakfast begins at 8:20 a.m.

• Instruction begins at 8:40 a.m.

• Late Start will be on Fridays

• Doors open at 9:10am

• Instruction begins at 9:30 a.m.

• PreK: Dismissal is at 3:30 p.m.

• K-5: Dismissal is at 3:40 p.m.

• Don't forget to check your student’s backpack daily!

If your family does not qualify for free breakfast and lunch, your student will need to pay for breakfast and lunch. Please complete the Free and Reduced School Meal Application form through the Required E-forms on TylerSIS to find out if you qualify.

Breakfast cost: $1.50

Lunch cost: $2.50

Milk only: $.60

Meals will be charged to your student's school account. Find out more info about our district's online meal payment system: MypaymentsPlus. You may also pay with cash or check at the school.

All students in a family will arrive and be dismissed from the same location, which is the pod of the youngest child, including preschool!

How to check for Busing

1. Log in to TylerSIS

2. Look at the menu under student information, there is a section called "transportation"

3. Your bus route, time, and information will be there.

Also, don't forget to download Here Comes the Bus App!

• If you know that your child is going to be absent, please call the school at 785-235-7480.

• If you need to pick your child up early, please be advised that we will call them down to the office once you arrive at the school.

• If you need to change the way your child goes home, please call the office by 1:00 for us to have time to communicate those
