SMART PROGRAM UPDATE
The SMART Program is an $800 million bond that provides critically needed funding for Broward County Public Schools. SMART addresses elements of Safety, Music & Art, Athletics, Renovations, and Technology at schools across the District.
The Renovations element of the SMART Program largely focuses on improving schools and the educational experience of students. A six-step process is put in place to ensure that all Primary Renovation projects are completed efficiently. Attucks Middle School is in Design for Phase I of its Primary Renovations, and Hire Contractor for Phase II. This means that while construction drawings are being prepared for part of the upcoming renovations, they have already been completed for a separate project, which only needs a contractor to begin active construction.
