Instrumental Ensemble Elective
At Children's Wishing Well, we strive to provide our children with a well-rounded education that goes beyond academics. This holistic approach includes termly non-academic electives, encompassing sports, arts, yoga, and many more.
Last term, our children at Bukit Merah participated in an Instrumental Ensemble Elective led by Music Instrument Academy; Music Solutions. Over the course of eight engaging sessions, they learned to play two unique instruments, the xylophone and the metallophone. Apart from just learning how to play, they also had to learn how to work together to unite their melodies and create a beautiful showcase.
We were thoroughly impressed by the musical abilities our children showcased and the strong sense of teamwork they demonstrated throughout the elective!
Exploring the heart of our MRT system
Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of our MRT systems? Our children got to find out firsthand when they visited Kim Chuan Depot during the September school holidays. Kim Chuan Depot is the world’s largest underground depot and home to the fully automated Circle Line.
Taken through various sections with their engaging facilitators, our children got a glimpse of the trains off duty and learnt valuable information about safety and security features within our train network. The highlight of the entire learning journey was the hands-on experience of learning to operate the train using a simulator. A fun yet challenging experience they surely won't forget.
Stay tuned for more unique and educational experiences during the last quarter of the year!
Navigating Career paths at Linklaters
Our children were not the only ones kept busy during the September school holidays. Our youth too had the privilege of attending a Career GPS session hosted by Linklaters, a prominent global law firm, in partnership with Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP), one of the world’s largest institutional investors.
The highlight of the event was a captivating speed networking session, where our youth had the chance to interact with professionals from both Linklaters and the OTPP team. This opportunity allowed them to gain insights into various legal career options and a deeper understanding of OTPP's diverse investment activities.
The well-planned programme served as a valuable platform to expose our youths to a wide spectrum of career possibilities, and motivate them to pursue their aspirations. It was a day filled with inspiration and encouragement, pushing them to continue their journey towards their dreams!
