Nature's Classroom Update for Grades 6 & 7
Instead, we are hoping to plan something for our students with our science partners here on-island.
The funds raised from the Citrus drives will stay with the classes as they head to NHS. The class officers and class advisor will have to decide on how to apply their funds to events at NHS: class trip, prom, homecoming, senior ball, graduation, and the class gift are all possible ideas.
CPS is Planning More Webinars on Internet Safety
We are working on a school-wide assembly and/or evening event with live Q&A with the authors.
In the meantime, please TALK to your kids about responsible use of their Smart Phone. The recording, photoshopping, and sharing of inappropriate images and videos is on the rise nationally and that includes CPS.

Schoology Update
Please email Michael Horton if you need help logging onto Schoology:
E-Bikes No longer Allowed to be Ridden on School Campus
All NPS students are being asked to walk their bikes on sidewalks as they approach school and more pedestrians are present. Current Nantucket law is that all bike riders under the age of 16 must also be wearing a helmet while riding a bike. All E-bike riders are required to wear a helmet per MA law regardless of age due to the speed that E-bikes can reach (same as for a motorcycle).
This reminder of state laws came from many near misses of e-bikes being ridden carelessly on sidewalks, between cars, and near pedestrians.
Lunch/Snack provided on District Half-days
The next is Wednesday, December 8, 2021.
Here is the calendar for future half-days:
Test and Stay Program
Forms were sent home last week in student backpacks for parents to consent to student testing as part of the 'Test and Stay' program. If consent is given, students who are close contact do not have to quarantine, but instead take a 'rapid' test for 5 days in the CPS nurse office.
MASK Reminder and BE ON TIME!
Students are starting to arrive to school after 7:50am. We are enforcing our attendance and tardy policies this year.
Attendance (p.11)
Tardiness (p.41)
At 10 days tardy to school per TRIMESTER, students will start receiving after school 'office detentions' from 2:20pm to 2:50pm. After each additional 5 days late per trimester, students will receive another office detention. A parent meeting may be scheduled for repeat offenders.
We have a School Resource Officer (SRO) and School Counselors to assist with getting students to school on time.
Aspen generated 'form' letters will be automatically generated to families after 5 days tardy or absent, after 10 days tardy or absent, and after 15 days tardy or absent.
