Happy Birthday Owen!

November 9, 2018

Big picture
Holy birthday cakes Batman! This week the Thomas community went above and beyond to make a birthday very special for one of our students. Owen knight celebrated his 15th birthday and was treated to a parade in his honor as well as a HUGE welcome by the entire school. It was a great event and based on the faces of students in the crowd, it was appreciated by all of our staff and students.

The marking period ended on Wednesday, November 7 and teachers will be finalizing grades for the quarter over the next few day. Just a reminder that we will not be mailing home report cards unless there is a class failure. There are directions below to assist you in printing if you wish to save it for prosperity of display it on the fridge.

The Fall Play- The Admirable Cricton

Webster Thomas HS proudly presents The Admirable Cricton, by Sir J.M. Barrie. When an aristocratic family and their servants are trapped on a deserted island with no hope of rescue, they try to rebuild their rigid Edwardian society. But who will claim the top of the social order now? The play, from the writer of Peter Pan, is a whimsically funny - and sometimes tragic - exploration of the role of social classes.

We will be doing a teaser during school next Wednesday with the show playing all next weekend November 15-17 at 7:30pm.

Tickets available at the door and at Thomas during lunch periods next week.

Here's a message from Mr. Suffoletto about Bald for Bucks:

A few weeks ago a student came up to me and introduced himself as Ian Avery. I asked him what I could do for him and he told me how he was doing this event here at school called Bald for Bucks, a fundraising program in which participants shave their heads to raise money for a local cancer center.

So I said, "OK. So you're looking for sponsors?"

Then he said, "Well, I talked to Mr. Widor about it, and he said that you would be more than happy to participate in shaving your head."

And then it dawned on me: I went running with Glenn a while back and in my overly-confident youth I made a joke about him being old, slow, and bald. I would tell you more, but what happens on a running trail stays on a running trail. I am of course glad to still have a job, but it seems Glenn was just biding his time to get his revenge.

So I clearly deserve this, and I'm going Bald for Bucks along with Ian Avery here at school on Tuesday, 11/20 (right before the Thanksgiving break) during 4th block. So this email is to ask our community for any financial support for this event from any of you who feel so inclined. I'm registered on the website below.

You can click "donate," and I think it would actually be cool if we all sponsored Ian instead of me. Ian already is at his personal goal of $500, but I bet we can at least double that for him to achieve the team goal of $1000.

Any donation large or small will be greatly appreciated.

peace and love
