It is the mission of Waggoner Road Junior High School to create a positive, safe, and equitable environment that addresses the unique needs of our students and empowers them to take ownership of their academic and personal growth in order to become informed and compassionate global citizens.
iReady and ProCore Winter Testing Window
Winter bench-marking season is upon us. Students will be taking their iReady ELA and Math tests, as well as their ProCore Science and Social Studies tests. It is important that students report to school on time on these days and that they are prepared to test. Please help your student perform at his/her best by making sure that they have a good night's sleep the day before the test. Studies show that students who eat a good breakfast perform better, so please talk to your child about eating a nutritious breakfast before (s)he leaves home in the morning or when they arrive at school.
The testing schedule for Winter Assessments is as follows:
Tuesday, 12/11 -- iReady ELA
Thursday, 12/13 -- ProCore Science
Monday, 12/17 -- iReady Math
Tuesday, 12/18 -- ProCore Social Studies
Please contact your child's teacher at 614-501-5700 if you have any questions.

WRJH's Caring Closet (Sponsored by Waggoner Road Campus PTO)
Every child should have access to the basic needs of life so that they can focus on their education. At WRJH, 51% of our students are on free or reduced lunch. This means that over half of our study body may struggle to overcome many of the things taken for granted by others such as access to hygiene products, clothing, school supplies or other simple necessities. As a community, if we can assist those who are struggling to keep their focus on education, we will not only be improving the individual lives we touch, we will also be improving our overall community.
WRJH is starting their very own “Caring Closet” sponsored by PTO which will contain hygiene products and will be open to any student in need once it is established. We need your help to get the closet started! The following is a list of items that you can contribute to the Caring Closet if you are interested. Items can be dropped off in the WRJH front office. We ask that all items be unopened, full-sized products. If you have questions, please email amber.knight@reyn.org.
Items Requested:
-Shampoo/Conditioner
-Body Wash/Soap
-Toothpaste/Toothbrushes
-Deodorant
-Face Wash
-Lotion
-Chapstick
-Feminine Products
-NO RAZORS OR RAZORBLADES
Signs of Suicide Training @ WRJH
WRJH, in collaboration with Nationwide Children’s Hospital, is providing a training for all 7th graders called Signs of Suicide on January 7th and 8th, 2019. The Signs of Suicide® Prevention Program (SOS) is a school-based suicide prevention program supported by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The goal of the curriculum is to prevent and reduce suicidal behavior by expanding the safety net for students experiencing mental and emotional distress. The training uses a video to help guide classroom discussions.
If you would not like your students to participate in the SOS program in January, please complete the form below and return to school. If you have any questions, contact Amber Knight, School Social Worker, at 614-501-5700

Attendance Policies/Information
In compliance with the Ohio General Assembly and House Bill 410, absences are no longer counted as how many days missed, but by how many hours of school missed. Therefore, if a student misses 38 or more hours within a given month, or 65 or more hours within the year, excused or unexcused, we are required to send a letter to notify you of the hours missed. Our notification is not a judgment on the reason for the absence, simply the application of the law. Our team – including your child’s teachers, social worker and building administrators – is here to partner with you on your child’s educational journey.
Please remember that you must report school absences for EACH DAY that your child is absent by contacting Mrs. Bobbi Butler at bbutler@reyn.org or calling 614-501-5700.

Meals on Wheels Partners with WRJH Students
Our school believes strongly in the importance of giving back to our community and beyond. We would like to offer your family the opportunity to participate in a unique service learning project. There is a strong need to provide meals for the elderly in Reynoldsburg. We have partnered with LifeCare Alliance’s Meals on Wheels program to help keep our aging neighbors in their homes...where they want to be. Our students have the opportunity to physically see the “good” they are doing for their community by handing over a hot meal to someone in need. WRJH has adopted a route of 6-8 seniors who we deliver hot meals to once a week. Parents or guardians will be asked to pick up meal containers at Parkview Presbyterian Church at 6969 E. Livingston Ave. The parent/guardian will then come and sign his or her child out for their lunch and recess period. Together, meals will be delivered. After meals are delivered, students are dropped back off to school, and the parent/guardian returns the empty meal containers to the church. Start to finish, this would take approximately 50 minutes. Depending on the number of interested families, you would be serving this route approximately once a month. If this is something you and your family might be interested in, please contact Ms. Knight at amber.knight@reyn.org. Once the group of new volunteers for the 18-19 school year is established, LifeCare Alliance will come to WJRH to conduct a one-hour training session so we can quickly get started on our mission!
