Tips for Students Trying to do their Best on the Test
Take Care of Yourself!
Proper sleep, diet, and exercise are not just good for you body, they're good for you mind! Make sure you take care of yourself by getting enough sleep every night (about 8 hours), eat a balanced breakfast (and lunch and dinner too), and try to keep your body in shape.

Flashcards
- These are a great way to train your memory to recognize information.
- Whether it's vocab words, history dates, chemical symbols, or math formulas just grab some index cards and a pen and you are set!
- You can also try www.quizlet.com if you're more tech savy!
Mnemonic Devices
- Take your new information and connect it with old information by using mnemonics.
- It's an easy way to remember the order of the planets, the order of taxonomy, the line notes of treble or base clef, or even the colors of the rainbow.
- Try using ROY G BIV to help you remember the colors of the rainbow "Red. Orange. Yellow. Green. Blue. Violet."
Visualize the Information
- You're more likely to recall the information if you can see it in your mind.
- Pay attention to charts and pictures in textbooks, they just might help you remember the information.
- If your book doesn't have any charts, graphs, or pictures, try coming up with some of your own. Try drawing a picture for your vocab words or sketching out the graph of that tricky polynomial equation.
