I think the title makes the poem seem like the author is having a dream.
I think the poet/author is trying to say hold on to your dreams because if you forget them then your life will be sad.
The poem might mean that the author has lost his dreams and is warning other people to hold on to your dreams.
The deep metaphors make the tone of the poem sad. a metaphor that makes this poem said is: "For if dreams die Life is a broken- winged bird" or another metaphor is: "For when dreams go Life is a barrier field Broken in the snow"
This poem does not have a shift.
I think the title means the poet is talking
Don't loose your dreams or you will have no hope.
