Air Mass
Air mass is a large pocket of air and can be 1000 miles long or wide. It is physically bounded together and it is uniform in a consistent makeup. Continental tropical is a warm front that is over the land and is dry. Continental polar is a cold front that is over the land and is dry. Maritime tropical is a warm front that is over the sea and is wet. Maritime polar is a cold front that is over the sea and is wet.
There are four names of air masses and they are:
1. Tropical- warm-forms near the equator
2. Polar-cold - forms near poles
3. Maritain- wet-forms over oceans
4. Continental- dry-forms over land
