The Board heard the following discussion & information items:

Project emPOWER was presented by Sonia Sharma of Girl Scout Troop 32666. This program centers around making self-defense training accesible in schools so that kids can be better equipped to deal with abductions, bullying, and general safety while working on their self-esteem and confidence.
Schoolworks, Inc., represented by Ken Reynolds, provided a demographic study of Walnut Creek School District. The report included information on housing, mobility & birth statistics in the area; a history of our enrollment and cohorts; enrollment projections; as well as school facility utilizationa dn student boundary enrollment comparisons.

Chefs Brigaid presented the key findings of their Child Nutritional Services assessment and a proposal for services. Chief Business Official, Vince Morales, requested approval of their proposal. Approved, 5-0

Ruben Fernandez, Director of Innovation & Technology, requested approval of the following summer projects:
- Contract with Masker Painting for exterior painting at Buena Vista, Parkmead, and
Walnut Heights Elementary schools. Approved, 5-0
- Contract with Dave Bang & Associates for a new TK/K play structure at Indian
Valley Elementary. Approved, 5-0
- Contract with Floors by Larry Seiler for flooring replacement in the District Office.

- Contract with Sgambati Painting Company for interior painting of the Distict Office.

Director of Innovation & Technology, Ruben Fernandez, recommended approval of a proposal from AirTeks Mechanical Systems to repair the failed HVAC system at the Tice Creek main office. Approved, 5-0

Heidi Hernandez-Gatty: attended WCSD Equity Committee meeting on 3/10; attended Negotiations as an observer on 3/22 and 4/13; attended the presentation at the Rossmoor Democrat Club on 4/14

Aimee Moss: attended WaLaMOrinda President's meeting on 4/12; attended Parkmead's Specials are Special night on 4/13; met with Superintendent Morgan on 4/14 for agenda planning
