A Note From Director Jacobs:

Spring. What a wonderful time of year, full of growth and promise. Promise. Each and everyday our incredible scholars at Rise demonstrate how they will stand up to be tomorrow’s future leaders. Like the native Redbud tree, our scholars have over the course of this year and developed roots in their ability to think like an innovator, a designer, a critical thinker, and collaborator. Our scholars continue to choose to be resilient and persevere, sharing their unique and incredible self with the entire Rise community. Rise scholars are the promise of a better tomorrow, and because of their light, every season feels brighter and full of hope.

STEM with Dr. Schroeder

April 11 - Our 4th grade scholars are attending 4H Camp. Thanks to all the parent volunteers. If you would like to assist please contact Jennifer Spore.

April 13 - 3rd and 4th grade scholars will be going to STEAM for their Science Fair. This will give them an opportunity to view projects and interact with scholars at STEAM

Later this month - 4th grade will visit the water treatment plant and wastewater treatment plant.

Make Up Sessions: 4/19 & 4/21 as needed

Helpful Family Tips for Testing:

1. Make sure your child gets plenty of rest the night before

the test.

2. On the morning of the test, your child needs to get up in

plenty of time so he/she won't feel rushed.

3. Feed your child a good breakfast. Research shows that

children do better on tests if they have had a good

breakfast.

4. Do as much as you can to make your child feel

comfortable. Try not to say things to make her feel

more nervous.

5. Reassure your child that no matter the outcome of the

test you will still love him/her. Encourage them to simply

do their best.

There will be a Good Faith Effort Celebration for Scholars who demonstrate during the assessment that they:

Took my TIME on the test (K-1 minimum 25 minutes; 2-4 minimum 45 minutes)
I did my VERY BEST
I stayed ON-TASK the entire time of the test
I checked my work and left nothing BLANK
I had a POSITIVE ATTITUDE

This will be a very fun reward that students CAN EARN for demonstrating their best EFFORT! Please encourage your scholar to DO THIER BEST as we want ALL scholars to be able to participate in this celebration!

On the horizon...May 8 - 12 is the Kentucky Summative Assessment testing window. More information to follow.

Makerspace with Dr. Witt:

SPARK Event

35+ scholars attended FCPS's first ever SPARK event. 6 second grade scholars competed in stop motion animation, 6 fourth grade scholars competed in multiple drone competitions, and 4 groups of third and fourth grade scholars presented their showcase projects for 3D printed charms, Rise and Shine morning show, Rise STEM video group, and Green Team's car take apart video.

It was a busy but amazing day to see our scholars hard work and can't wait to see them and more present at the STLP event on April 19. Congratulations to all who competed and presented. We are proud to announce our winners!

Sending a huge THANK YOU to all parents/guardians and family members who devoted time to come and read to our Rise scholars for Women’s History Month! You are greatly appreciated! Also, thank you to our PTA president, Dr. Selvi Jeyaraj and Kristen Downs, also from the PTA for dedicating time to our DEIB College & Career Readiness event! They served as presenters and we greatly appreciated them for talking with our scholars about their profession! Thank you to our community partners and Rise family members for coming out to the Latte Love event and also the CCR event (as presenters)! You helped make this day a success for our Rise scholars!
