Six Flags Read to Succeed Reading Program
Read to Succeed is a free program that allows students in grades K-5 to earn a ticket to Six Flags Over Georgia just by reading six hours for fun.
The process is new this year. Each student needs the help of their parent to register for the program using a special class code unique to their homeroom teacher. A sheet was sent home before Thanksgiving break with the classroom code on it. Please contact your student’s homeroom teacher if you still need the code. Next go to www.sixflags.com/books and register your child. Each Brookwood child needs to be registered in your family under their homeroom teacher. Each time a child reads for fun, record your child’s reading on the Six Flag’s site.
All reading and the recording online needs to be complete by April 3, 2020. No late entries will be allowed. Once your child has read six hours, they will qualify for a free ticket. Six Flag tickets will be distributed in May.
Happy Reading!
You received this magnet package the Friday before Thanksgiving Break. The deadline to return or purchase is December 16
The Place Holiday House - A Place of Joy
In a few short months, the air will be filled with smells of the holidays and the atmosphere will carry feelings of merriment, good wishes, and joy. For many in the Forsyth County area, however, the Holiday season is met with stress, fear, and sadness. As these parents work to make it day-to-day, Christmas morning is simply an expense they cannot afford.
Last year, The Place Holiday House helped these parents provide Christmas joy for over 2,000 children. We hope you'll let The Place Holiday House be your PURPOSE this holiday season. To see what you can do to help, simply click https://bit.ly/2qmSmqr
PTO Annual Holiday Shop
Our Holiday Shop will be open during the school day beginning December 10 - 13. Teachers will sign-up to bring their classes so students have an opportunity to shop. Tuesday, December 10 & Thursday, December 12, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Science Lab Volunteers Needed
Parents,
We have another great opportunity for you to come in and help our school. Mrs. Hayes needs parent volunteers to help in the Science Lab. She needs support just once a week (at your convenience) for about one hour. Tasks will include helping put lab materials away, helping label lab materials and any other small tasks she may need help with to support your students in the science lab. The sign-up volunteer list can be found here and it is currently listed on Mondays, however, you may come anytime Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. to assist the week that you sign up. Please use the comments to indicate which day of the week you intend to volunteer so we can let the school and Mrs. Hayes know. Thank you in advance for supporting the school through volunteering!

We are thrilled to present SCREENAGERS: Growing Up in the Digital Age, a documentary about the biggest parenting issue of our time.
Are you watching kids scroll through life, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston saw that happening with her own kids and began a quest to uncover how it might impact their development. As with her other two award-winning documentaries on mental health, Ruston takes a deeply personal approach as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and also offers solutions on how adults can empower their kids to best navigate the digital world to find balance.
SCREENAGERS addresses the most pervasive parenting issue of our time head on—depicting teen struggles over social media, video games and internet addiction. The film empowers kids to best navigate the digital world and provides practical resources to help them do it.
Family Connect Nights!
Brookwood works with our middle and high school feeder schools to have a combined Family Connect Night once a month. This night is designed to put down homework and connect as a family. Some great ideas are to try something new, cook dinner together, have a puzzle night, game night, go for a walk or anything where you change up your routine and be in the moment! Be on the lookout for how we will post pics of your awesome Family Night!
