Why is the dairy food group important?
Dairy food group is important because its a good source of calcium for your body. Calcium is used for building bones and teeth and in maintaining bone mass. Having dairy in your system helps give you different kinds of nutrients not just dairy. Dairy gives you calcium, potassium, vitamin D and protein. Dairy is most important during adolescence because that's when the bones are growing.
What is osteoporosis? What are three ways a person can help prevent against the disease?
Osteoporosis is a disease that anyone can be affected by. It causes weak bones, bones to lose minerals like calcium, bones become fragile and break easily. It is called the "silent disease" because bone loss can occur without symptoms. Three ways a person can prevent against this disease is to build healthy bones while young, a healthy diet and a healthy lifestyle.
